Do you like traveling? What about visiting Austria and partly Germany with me? If you want to read something interesting, check my pictures, then you are in the right place at the right time! Soooo… let's get started !!! My this blog will be mostly about Austria, I visited this June. It is a beautiful country with an awesome landscape and even though there is no sea, the combination of the mountains (the Alps) and the lakes is without doubt something what will make you speechless because such breathtaking sceneries you can see there, will stay saved on your mind forever.
I was happy that in Austria people can speak English, otherwise I would be little bit lost like I was in Hungary last year with my poor German :-) The owner of our hotel was funny and it took me just little bit of time to get used to his accent but in some days, we discussed the trips and he also came up with some special tips, so I can say that the communication was awesome. He also cooked for us and since we were almost the only one guests there, we enjoyed it a lot becuse he even prepared special dishes for our kids, which really impressed me. However, I won't talk about gastro tourism here but about what we visited there.
We stayed close to the resort Zell am See, which is a beautiful town (destination) with the lake, historical center and of course surrounded by the mountains. It is also very popular in the winter, so if you want to enjoy skiing in the Alps, Zell am See is one of the best options. Anyway, let's talk about summer. I have to admit that I loved walking around the lake and taking the pictrures because it was simply relaxing and enjoyable, so here you can check some of them.
To be in the Alps and not to see the highest Austrian mountain would be a big shame, don't you think so? That is why we decided to beat Grossglockner (3.798 m. above the sea) ….ehm of course not on foot :-D Luckily there is a road called Grossglocknerstrasse (Grossglockner street) which is like 50km long and I have to admit it is really for experienced drivers because the conditions - especially terrain, so many curves etc. - to sume it up .. it is not easy at all to get there. In one hour we reached the parking area and found ourself in totally different climate conditions. Down there was hot weather I think around 30 degrees .. but when we left the car, it was 11 degrees :-D We knew it, so we brought some warm clothes but shivering people walking in the sandals or shorts made me little bit laugh. We took a walk around and enjoyed the atmosphere of such big mountains we were surrounded by. Actually, I have never been in my life so high and I would be able to spend there the whole day and just to stare at the mountains and think about nothing .. exactly like men usually do!
Anohter interesting trip was trip to Germany, where we visited Eagle's Nest. Everything there, including the road, tunnels, special lift in the mountain and building itself was built during the World War II. as a gift for Hitler's 50th birthday. I find kind of interesting paradox the fact that Hitler visited this place only few times because he suffered from the fear of the heights. Nowadays there is a restaurant up there and awesome view. Of course, I didn't visit this place because I would admire Hitler but because I like history and you could also read many interesting facts there written on the special desks. Here you could come across the tourists from all around the world and what surprised me was that the bikers left their bikes with the shoes helmets, bags at the parking area and nobody stole anything – that is what I really love about Austria. No thieves. Honestly speaking – in my country impossible and I am really ashamed of it.
What about Golden Gate in the Alps? Do you know that it really exists? Not only San Francisco can be proud of it but also one valley where people decided to build up very interesting activity park with many attractions for the kids and the adults. See ...I m not telling you lies :-)
When we had enough of the mountains, we decided to visit Königsee in Germany. It is one of the top ten beautiful lakes in the Alps with very clean water. Honestly, I felt like I am in some tropical island when I was taking the pictures. We enjoyed this trip a lot, especially when the boat suddenly stopped in the middle of the lake surrounded by the mountains and a guy with trumpet started playing it, to show us what awesome echo they had there. It was really unforgottable experience and everybody was just silently listening to it (even my kids) :D
We made also many other trips but I don't want to make you bored with something longer. I think it is enough about my Austria-Germany holiday and next time… hohohooooo… I am here with a blog about ITALYYYY!!! Ciao :-)
