IELTS  Writing Task: 

This question is one of many other writing tasks that could be found in the IELTS test. This is my personal answer NOT a sample one, please be aware of this.

Do you believe that professional athletes make good role models for young people?

       Some people may underestimate the profound impact of role models upon people, especially younger ones. While it was proven scientifically that role models could have deep influence on youngers either consciously or unconsciously. This influence also can be either external like the influence on appearance and lifestyle, or internal such as planning future goals and visions.

       In my humble opinion, it is inaccurate to say that all professional athletes are considered as good role models because in reality not all of them are good enough to be role models. Many famous athletes who are internationally famous and have fans everywhere do not actually deserve to be treated like heroes. In many case, many sport players where caught red handed smoking marihuana, using drugs, and doing inappropriate things. On the other hand, there are few athletes who can be respectable role models to the young generation since they could teach them a lot of things indirectly like how to work as a team and how to play gracefully. Also, how to be helpful and productive in the society by doing volunteer work and donating money to people and organizations that in need for financial support.

        In conclusion, not all professional athletes are horrible people which means some of them would make a real great role model. Still, adults should enlighten young people to be more careful and precise  in selecting their role models whether they are athlete or not.
