I read this interesting article in BBC news about "Moser Light" which was invented by Alfredo Moser, a Brazilian mechanic. Mr. Alfredo Moser uses plastic bottle with water and bleach to invent the most amazing light without the usage of any electricity. The Moser light is based on principle of refraction to light up a dark room during the day.
Mr. Moser had been using plastic bottles filled up with water and a splash of bleach, to avoid algae, to illuminate dark rooms since 2002 and now the idea had been spreading around the world especially to poorer countries. Mr. Moser had the idea to invent the solution during frequent blackout in Brazil in 2002. Depending on the strength of the sun, the light that filling his home is estimated between 40 to 60 watts.
He was quoted to BBC News "It's a divine light. God gave the sun to everyone, and light is for everyone. Whoever wants it saves money. You can't get an electric shock from it, and it doesn't cost a penny."
By the end of the year, it's expected that millions homes will be fitted with his invention. But, Mr. Moser did not get paid for his invention. He is still poor.
The question is, why did some Government or even big Companies did not use his idea, and maybe improvise it further, and fit most homes with the much needed light? Reading from the article, it seems this is one of the best and cheapest solutions for energy usage. I just hope no one will put some patent request and make millions from this simple idea.
It makes you wonder, doesn't it?

Bala, I guess what you and sewar are true. These big Companies are looking for profits, and not the welfare of poor people. How sad it is at this modern time, people are still have to endure darkness.
Amazing Invention by Mr. Moser and an amazing discovery by Ms. Noas....Well done dear...You are always coming up with enlightening Blogs and ofcourse like Mr.Moser, you ll also be getting non monetary benefits only....
Really, why dont the Govt or even this Social Welfare Organisation go for this Moser Light to brighten the country atleast the villages....that too u know, in india we are very much in need of electricity...we were living in dark for the last 6 months and ofcourse now its okay due to wind energy...
As Sewar said, they are convenient in keeping us in Dark so that they can become richer and richer....
My dear friend sewar, what else can I add to your view? Nothing! You have summed up the situation with such a refreshing and articulate view. Thank you my friend.
Wow my dear friend, as always you provide us with amazing information. Considering to your honest question " why did some Government or even big Companies did not use his idea, and maybe improvise it further, and fit most homes with the much needed light?" who says that the governments even the poor once want their people to rise from the darkness or from the poverty or from the ignorance. They want their people to be always busy to not aware their government's shady actions. And even if these government have a little bet of conscience the big and the rich countries will not. We all know that most of the poor countries are rich of natural wealth, such as; gold, diamond, calcium phosphate...........etc. So, it is for the big countries own good, to be more rich and powerful, the poor once drown more and more in darkness, poverty and ignorance swamp, to control them easily and their natural wealth as well. Thanks my dear for the lovely and meaningful topic.
Dear nida, thank you for reading. It's my pleasure to share things with everyone. I think it's my bit of contributing to share some good news with EC Members.
I already knew the Moser Light and how it worked but didn't know its name or perhaps forgot it, but after reading your amazing blog I don't think I'd forget its name again. Thanks, noaslpls, for your tireless efforts to share things from across the globe with us.
Hi Jole, thank you for reading. Yes, I hope the poor countries and communities can benefited from this invention.
It is a good invention for a wide usage but especially for poor communities. Nice blog Noaslpls.
