Have you ever heard about one of John Gray’s famous book :”Men are from March, women are from Venus" ?This well known couple counselor and seminar american leader provides a unique and practical way for men and women to communicate and relate better by admitting the differences between them.He is foccusing on the differences between men and women as if both were from a different planet and he shows how men and women react differently in conversation and how their relationships are affected He encourages readers to accept the other gender's particular way of expressing love, and helps men and women to learn how to fulfill each other's emotional needs. It didn’t take long before his book became a bestseller and now, they made it a play at the theater. To see it was a pure joy as the situations on the scene were so realistic and so funny that we all could find some similarities with our daily situations. Unexpectedly the theater was full of men and i was very surprised to see we all were able to laugh from situations that make us angry in our couple’s life.According to Mr gray, men are goal oriented while women are relationship oriented, so men always keep trying to achieve their goals and to succeed in live, they need Trust, acceptance and encouragement. However women consider their relationship with family and friends more important than anything else so they require, care, understanding and respect.Let me give you a little exemple of the most common missunderstanding. (according to Mr Gray)Woman : ohh, honey , i had such a hard day at work. I made a mistake with and i had to apologize to a client.Man : oh darling, next time you better concentrate more on your work and try to be more details focusedWoman : is that what you are telling me right now ?All she needs is to have someone listen and understand, not give advice. So the following reaction would have been better !Man :Oh darling everyvbody makes mistakes, that’s ok, come here and let me give you a hug .Woman : thank you honey i am feeling a lot betterAn other difference between men and women is their way to releave stress. When men have problems they’re usualy go into their caves, not talking but only conentrating on the problem itself and they do not come out of the cave unless they solved the problems or spend enough time to think about it.On the opposite, a woman shares everything so she thinks he doesn’t love her anymore so she tries to make him talk which only send him deeper in the cave! So all a woman has to do, it just wait until he comes out and act with him as nothing has never happened before. However in women case it’s just the opposite, we talk when we have troubles or when we feel “blue”. So we releave our stress by talking with people. So men just listen to our story and not while listening and try to be supportive. So conflicts come up from time to time dues to a lack of understanding of the opposite sex. But according to Gray, if we try to understand our differnces we can satisfy ourselves and our partner betterMen are motivated when they feel needed. When they feel trusted and appreciated it gives them power and they have more to give.Women are motivated when they feel cherished. When they feel cared for and respected they are fulfill and have more to give as well.Doesn’t it make sense ? What do you think ?
I haven't read this book, but I've heard of its title "Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus".
I think it's not only appropriate for the "western world", since it's also correct here, in my eastern society.
Men and Women, they are two specimens that are totally different from the appearances to the ways of thinking, brainstorming & expressing emotions. Looking at children at a kindergarten, we could see a common example that boys like playing with guns, swords, robots while girls like dolls, kitchen tools, accessories, etc. And it's natural.
Conflicts lead them to misunderstanding sometimes. But conflicts also make them attracted to each others. That's why Men still come from Mars, Women still live in Venus... but, we meet them in a family as Husband and Wife :D
Good evening Salim,
You're right, i think this book is more appropriate for the western world. Surprisingly, i forgot to mention this.
I like the quote you wrote in your comment, it makes so much sense !
Hello Aali,
Thanks for giving me your opinion about the book. You're right, Gray's tips are not the holly book, but i think it can help people to think about the problem and to try to understand the other sex better.
Yes,I've read this book to the middle. It was really interesting at that time for me,but then i found its not only these tips that can make you feel the permanent bliss.
Thanks for introducing Gray's "Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus".
Have a great time.
