Dear Marcus,
Congrats on you! Tomorrow you are going to marry your deep loving girl, I feel the same happy as you do. Tonight you are so busy and excited as I can see. You know, my boy, you are very charming and your smile is so bright.
Hmmm, I still remember couple of years ago, the day you came to ask me if you were good enough after you broke up with your first love, that day, you were so sad and tired. My boy, I know, I am always sure you are a kind and soft boy. But I told you if you loved her, then let her go and find the best man for her. You asked me why, and I didn’t tell. Now it is the time to share you some stories which you want to know all these years between your mom and I, and you will find the answer in the stories yourself.
More than 30 years ago, before you came to the world, I happened to know your mom when I had a holiday and came back from the troop. On that day, when I crossed the road, I saw a pretty girl with doe’s eyes, clean and innocent, stretching her hands in the air and looking for something. Looking down the ground, I suddenly recognized she was a blind girl! I felt a gust of hurt in my heart and sorry for her, what a pity! So I came to her and supported her with her hand. Crossed the road, she said thanks in a gentle voice with a happy and grateful smile. Somehow I felt very happy seeing her smile.
Later I got to know she lived next to my village. The second time I met her, she was picking cotton when I passed by. A soft voice came out of my heart “stop, stop, stop…” Then I stopped to watch her from a distance. You know, she was very patient though she failed many times. I was worried about her and wanted to give her a hand, but I didn’t. I was afraid of scaring her and hurting her dignity, and I knew well I could help her this time, how about next time? Could I help her all her life? I wasn’t sure, so I left quietly though I felt sorry.
After holiday, I went back to the troop and turned myself into busy work, which made me forget her, until one day one comrade-in-arms who was from the same village with her told me without intention she married a smith by her family’s arrangement. I was a bit shocked, and a bit down as well.
