A Significant Achievement In The World Of Medicine…

n general, people get shocked/traumatized in hearing the word “MALARIA” because we all know the outcomes of malaria, and on the other hand, how it terribly effects on the interests of our people as a whole. For centuries, especially people living in tropical and sub-tropical regions have been suffering from malaria because there is no practical way-out to curb it successfully. In the human history, a larger number of people died of malaria posing a huge puzzle in front of our civilization! Yes, it is challenge to all of us.
Malaria is a mosquito-borne infectious disease, so there is an indispensable association between the disease and the mosquitoes. Controlling the increase in the mosquito population is a vital public health issue across the globe, but in modern egocentric societies, people live in isolation with zero to least possible attention on their out world or the environment. As for the control of the population-volume of insects like mosquitoes, the participation of every citizen is a pre requirement because it is impossible to achieve the set goals without a collective effort.
In fact, the role of mosquito is to transmit the disease to a healthier person by a mosquito bite; the infected female Anopheles mosquito is the terrible creature in this subject. Once an infected mosquito bites a healthier person, a parasite belonging to Plasmodium species enters the person’s blood from the saliva of the mosquito and then travels to the liver in which they mature and reproduce. There are five species of Plasmodium causing the disease, but most deaths are resulted by P. falciparum; from the economic point of view, malaria is an extra burden to countries like Sri Lanka because of its outgoings.
In our environments, if scrutinized/observed profoundly during rainy seasons, you would come across a number of mosquito breeding centers, however, it is unfortunate for us that most of us in our societies currently live in limited, shell structures, so they don’t worry about happenings beyond their walls. Within the walls, a palace would be established, but the outside would be terribly adulterated, so egocentric nature in modern lifestyles is a real obstacle to keep the environment clean and sustainable.
In this context, scientists continuously struggled in research centers for years to develop a vaccine to control malaria. Yes, malaria is a Satan, so we have no other alternatives available with us except fighting against him. “Every cloud has a silver line”; after continuous, tedious R&D program/s, the modern scientists in the medical sector have been able to successfully formulate a vaccine against malaria. This is a giant landmark in the world of medicine!
