  • Lady Anne, please, I have a question:In the Major quiz, the first part, No. 4"Peter was listing on the radio when she came".  The exception always is known that breaking the rule. The word "listing" always followed by "to". This is the rule. But the word "the radio" always comes, after the preposition "on".  Therefore, the sentence is correct. Also, it came in Lesson No. 9 "on the radio", I also read this sentence a lot in both cases. Why are you considered that was an error. It also should be in the next times that you choose questions do not have two answers, one in the England English and the other in the American English because we are still in the first of the way.   However, we have benefited a lot and appreciate your precious effort. Sorry for the inconvenience and thank you very much.

  • Many many thanks, Lady Anne. :))

Sorry typo: this result doesn't show.. . hehe
  • Didn't I tell you that you were a keen observer, Onee-chan?  This is expected whenever I host lessons and quizzes.

Before I published Lesson 8, I asked Mishaikh's help to be my sharp eye as I might overlook something like this.

Last year, Mishaikh and Kosala became my scrutinizers during the similar course.  They notified me at once when a discrepancy popped up.  Some learners encountered no problem as they only look at their own works.  But I observed that you were doing something more than answering and participating only. By asking, you begin to step on the ladders of the effective way of learning.

Your hunger and thirst for learning English is indeed insatiable.  What a very nice attitude you have, Onee-chan.

You are correct. Different from, different to and different than are all grammatically correct.  Different from is the most common preposition (both in British and American English) among the three. Different to is more common but different than is mainly used in American English.  We go for the most common.

I have a strong feeling that EC is British that even their example shows "at the weekend" and not "on the weekend".  Again, at the weekend and on the weekend are also correct.  The first is commonly used in British English while the latter is in American English.

Take a look at EC's example:

  • Dear my teacher, Lady Anne,,

May I bother you again with this question? :D

I'm still curious with the question number 2, part A. Based on Lesson 10 we can use from/to before different. I have searched about prep. after different and found this..

    alt-usage-english-different-from-different-than-different-to.jpgSee detail in source.

And it came to my decision to answer "from" instead of "CORRECT". So, is it wrong to say "different to" or is it just used in some sentences? what kind of sentence? Would you mind to explain to us...? :))

............... and one more question...some varieties of English people say "on the weekend", source. Is "at the weekend" the best or the only correct grammar?

Need your enlightenment, please... We're glad to have you here, teacher.. ^^

  • Agree with you, Mishaikh. Friends, this result do not show our status English level at all

This is just a part of grammar. I must confess that I still need to learn a lot from you too.. I need more and more vocabularies. I think we'll success in English if we can practice, practice, and practice it... And also agree that we learn by mistake.

    Thanks to all. :)
