How deep is your love to your family? What will you do if you are incredibly poor and you have opportunity to get away from it? Will you take the opportunity without think twice or….?
The storyline of the drama Yamada tarou monogatari walks on this notion. The leading character, Yamada Tarou is the eldest son of an incredibly poor family living in Tokyo. He has 6 siblings. His Father always journey around the world and his mother is a housewife with weak body. He is very intelligent. He studies at one of the best high school in Japan with scholarship. He is well mannered young man. In addition to that he’s also good looking. No wonder everyone likes him. It makes no one realize the actual condition of his family background. Yamada works part-time job to help his family.
Yamada’s younger brother, Jirou loves baseball very much. Jirou is offered to join the school team. The problem is he has to provide 27.000 yen for enrollment fee. How their family is on earth can afford such amount of money? But all Yamada tarou wants is to help his sibling’s dreams come true. Indeed to collect the money needed, Yamada works several part-time jobs. Everyday after school he works as a waiter in a restaurant for several hours. In the night he works on the road construction until morning. It makes Yamada tarou looks tired and fall asleep during classes.
As the eldest son in the family, Yamada encourages his younger siblings not to be afraid to dreams. In every new semester, he asks his family to write down their plan for the particular semester. Yamada teach the other family member live in honor. One of the commandments of living with honor is to never have debt, simply because there is no way to pay it back.
Remember I told you that Yamada tarou is very intelligent? Yamada Tarou is very interested in bio-technology and his dream since he was much younger is to become a scientist in bio-technology. At the end of his study in high school, a US University offers him a full scholarship to study about bio-technology. He refuses the offer instantly. He is thinking if he goes to US to study, then who will take care of his family? He wants to study bio-technology so bad. But it’s also not negotiable for him if it is not in Japan where he can take care of his family. Actually, he can finance his family while he studies in America. But he feels he doesn’t want to get far from his family because the most important thing for him is get closer and sharing everything with his family. If you were Yamada, will you take the same decision? Will you put your future at stake just to be close to your family?
Eventhough Yamada tarou refuses the scholarship that offered by a US University but deep in Yamada tarou’s heart he still have a dream to be a scientist in bio-technology. With the help of his homeroom teacher, Yamada secures a scholarship to study in the bio-technology department. Finally his dreams come true. Yamada tarou is accepted in Jounin University with scholarship. It’s one of university with the best bio-technology department in Japan.
Seeing what Yamada tarou have done to his family I feel that I have done nothing to my family. Yamada inspire me to do my best to my family. Now what you have done to your family?

Poor Prince, isn't it?. The struggle of Tarou is really hard but finally he finds his happiness. He has a good looking dad who always leaves his family and a mother who behaves like a princess.
I must admit I haven't done something for my family, but I want and will do it later on.
