Love Ladder...5

Hand-carve the stone ladder

Over those years, he did an enormous project except for taking care of the family.——hand-carving a stone ladder for her. He wanted to make the downhill way easier and better for her so that she would never trip by the rough stone road which was leading to the foot of the mountain.

Over 50 years, he had used more than 20 iron hammers. He hand carved more than 6,000 steps over the years for her convenience, although she doesn't go down the mountain that much. Moreover, once after a rain, he would wipe the steps in order to keep them clean and protect them from mosses.

Every step of the stone ladder was actually carved by his deep love. His hand became full of calluses as time slipped away.

“I am so worried about him. However, he always said he was ok and once the stone ladder project would be completed, it’s easier for me to walk when I want to go down the deep mountain. He didn’t know, living with him in the remote mountain, I don’t lack of anything and there is no need for me to go down.” She said to the media after he passed away in her arms, crying.

To be contnued...

  • I guess his love was as deep as that of Shah Jahan of Taj Mahal's love to his beloved wife.  But Taj Mahal was a grandeur and opulent show of love which was built by more than 22,000 labourers, his Ladder of Love was greater and grandeur because he built it himself. He built it with the intention to ease the burden of his wife going downhill, and he built it while his wife was still alive and can appreciate his effort. What a selfless act of love. His Ladder of Love was really the monument of pure and greatest love of all.

  • Yeah, but beautiful as well~

  • What a sad ending!
