Love and Respect for the Elderly

Today's  fast moving  world some or most  elderly  are placed  in homes

Do you think it is a solution  and  does  it nourish  the soul ? If there is no  option how do

you feel the  loved  one  should  spend their times

It is a natural therapy to be with your loved  ones  and  see your grand  kids  and  hear their laughter  .

  • Nadira,

This is a very touching blog and the other comments have only made it better.  I think it is always best if the elderly can live with the younger generation as long as they can get the proper care. There does come a time when specialized care may be necessary, but then they should not be forgotten if they have to stay in a medical facility.

I, for one, would not like to ever live in such a place. If I get to the point of needing tubes for feeding and breathing, it means my time has come. I would wish to die naturally and quietly at home with my family.  If I can't eat or breathe for myself I will be ready for my afterlife :)

@ Anele: Please blog or write to me about your Grandfather's experiences in WW II. Those stories should not be allowed to disappear from history.  Too many events of that time are being lost as the people who lived through them pass on.

I have always been interested in visiting your country because of the stories my father told me about those times in WW II. I was young and forgot the names of places he saw.  I didn't write it down and suddenly he got old and died without me getting these things recorded. His experiences were good and he found the people of the Philippines to be wonderful.  That is because he was busy with his airplane protecting the islands against any re-invasion and did not have to see any violence.  It may have been much different for your Grandfather.

  • Hi Nadira, How are you?

I wrote my experience and pour into this month of Writing Challenge. Please share you ideas and view. :) Waiting, for your comment as well.. :)

  • @Sandeep

Your underestimation  your self , and reading  a light glimpse of your  story , you seem far  from being   boring . So do not  worry do  try to write when  your ready and  people will do appreciate it ,  I will be  the  first  do let  me know  when you do :)

  • Nadira, Good idea, I'll try someday. But I've a feeling nobody going to read it here :D Since I'm only a bore bo... LOL!

  • @Anele

I can  just imagine the loss of a beloved  grand  pa , who was  there for you in ones formative years.  Anele you have happy memories of him  and  his guidance and blessings
