Let's Count Stars...B

At night, Yiyi's mother finally came back from office. Yiyi filled a bowl of rice and passed it to her tired mother.

She told her mother that her brother had a fever while massaging for her mother. When her mother went to Tutu's bed, she caressed him gentlely and covered the blanket for him. Yiyi was standing outside and leaning herself on the door when a bitter feeling came to her mind. It's true that her parents loved her and they worked hard for saving money to cure her. Yet how she wished they could pay a little more attention to her! She was so eager for their care, even just a hug. The reality was, they were busy from dawn to dust; and at night, they slept in the different room with her.

She kept silent as usual when she had such feelings. She even thought those feelings were selfish. How tired were her parents! Soon she felt guilty and went to wash the dishes. As a matter of fact, she had a dream. She heard counting stars with family at a summer night would bring luck to the family. She never complained about her life, instead she was grateful she could live to now. She wouldn't ask any over requirement from her parents. She didn't allow herself to. But she really hoped to count stars with her parents and younger brother.

God bless! As time elapsed, she grew up into an adult and the hospital informed her parents that they had a living heart availabe for Yiyi. After years' efforts, her parents saved enough money also. She was so happy not only because she had new hope, but more for her parents that if the operation could be successful they could be not as tired as before.

The night before her operation, she finally got up the courage and told her parents her long-cherished dream. "Father and mother, can I ask you to do one thing for me? I'll be thankful and without any regrets even if the operation is..."

"Sure, my girl. You'll be all right!" Said her mother.

"Father, shall we count stars tonight? You can use your skills of counting money to count the dreamlike stars." That was the first time she was being naughty with her father. And this time her father smiled and answered, "Girl, when you are all right, I'll count stars rather than money with you whenever you want!"

Yiyi felt she was the happiest and luckiest girl in the world at that moment...

  • Giggling, dear nida. Yiyi deserve to be treating like a princess. She is so sweet.

  • Thankfully, the end of your story is so inspiring.

It's said that the children who live in a relatively poor family tend to be more considerate than those in a wealthy family.

  • I love happy endings! Thank you for such nice story, giggling Mickey. :)
