The rainy season has started here in the Philippines. After the wrath of typhoons last year, more people now are conscious on how to be ready once a typhoon hit their lands.I believe taking initiative is a must if you want have an idea to prevent the destruction of our lands. One way is to dump our garbage in the right places. People should not throw their garbage in canals and drainage. These could cause flooding and flooding causes a lot of water borne deceases such as diarrhea, typhoid fever, flu and the like. It could even cause electrocution if electric wires fall on flooded areas.People living in lowlands must be aware of landslides and erosion. Planting trees would be a great help to minimize landslides and prevent the destruction of houses and roads in lowland areas and even loss of lives.People should also prepare emergency kits once the typhoon comes. Emergency kits should have canned goods, flashlights and its batteries, dry clothes, towels, medicines and a small radio. Most of all people should have presence of mind to make a right decision. Help as much as they can and go to the nearest evacuation center once the typhoon comes. These are some of my ideas. If you have other tips and ideas, feel free to share with me.Till then...........Rob
I'm fine, thank you Robert! I know your country has seen so many typhoons over the past few years. I still remember a TV picture which showed some of the locals floating down the furious river. Fortunately, this summer, there seems to be fewer typhoons. Best wishes to all of you!
Thank you for your comment Mr. Expector Smith. How are you? Indeed we hope all countries experiencing such calamities will remain strong in helping hand in hand.
Natural disasters seem to occur more and more frequently around the world. If only there was no such thing as typhoon, hurricane, earthquake, landslide, flooding, forest fire, tornado, volcano eruption, etc. May all the sufferers overcome their sufferings and return to normal life soon.
