"It's like an iPad, only thicker. It entertains you for hours. It's like Individual screens with words on it. It's like a movie you get to direct in your own head."
- Jon Stewart
Ah, that poor guy! He was desperately trying to explain to the young people why books are awesome. It made me sad that he had to compare a book with an iPad. I'm not against technology, heck I have my fair share of these "modern prisons" myself. But still....
I was looking through the books at a bookstore nearby, and I saw a couple there. One of them was reading the back cover of a book. Avidly! Suddenly I heard the girl said:"Books are dumb. Let's go." "I think we need to talk." Said the boy. Needless to say, it was the beginning of an argument. To tell you the truth, I was rooting for him.
"It's like an iPad, only thicker." Huh.
I think there is still hope though. Because I saw these:
1- Perfect for the judges, the lawyers and the jury?
2- I can hear "Für Elise" right now. Hmm hmm hmm hmm hmm...
3- I can sit on this sofa for hours.
4- The tree, the books, the irony...
5- Any Doctor Who fans around here?
6- "It's the bookshelf Gotham deserves, but not the one it needs right now."

Well, that's the sixty-four dollar question, my dear. I guess Stewart's main concern was that when people engage in their iPads or whatever, the only thing that they won't do would be reading. Of course there are some exceptional examples like you dear setareh:)
I have so many e-books in my mobile. I can take them every where. Don't you think that if we use e-books then we won't cut down trees. Nice pictures of libraries.
Hi dear noona^, you had me at "Books are the best freinds ever." You are right. 100%. They are our best friends.
Holy mackerel! Now I can die in peace=D
I like that about 'the tree, the books, the irony' haha
I'm not sure which one I prefer... the sofa doesn't look too comfortable and I've some problems with Batman :P
I think I'd like a much more large bookshelf...
Something like that library in the Netherlands called 'the Book Montain'... the world's largest bookshelf. Yeah, I defenitely pick that one! :D
