In your opinion, what has been the most significant transportation innovation of the past 200 years? Support your opinion with reasons and examples from your own knowledge or experience.
All through the decades, there has been a lot of inventions that were developed by mankind - one of which are transportation vehicles. There are trains, cars, trucks, seabuses and airplanes that made transportation so much easier than ever before. But what the most important innovation that I think was ever developed is, the usage of electricity to run cars and other vehicles.
Electric-operated vehicles are still rare but already being used by some people around the globe. I can say that this is the most precious thing ever thought because since the beginning of the transportation system, oil and fossil fuels are being used to provide power to vehicles. These fuels, considered as food for the engines are not safe for the environment - they are toxic. Diseases such as lung cancers and environmental problems like global warming are only some of the evidences that these are causing problems to the planet. So, an alternative to using fuels is exactly the best thing that has ever happened.
It can be very exciting to imagine how the environment would appear if all vehicles are powered by electricity - there will be cleaner air and surroundings because no fumes are excreted by the engines; and another thing, less noise will be experienced by everyone, for electric-operated transportations produce very low sound compared to fueled machines. In addition to these, people may live longer and happier for the reason that, diseases caused by burnt fuels are no longer present. A generation of healthy individuals can start once usage of oil and fuels for engines are eliminated.
In conclusion, it is the health benefit of all in the planet that made me think that electric-powered vehicles are the most significant innovation ever made. It may not be implemented all around the globe for now, but I can already see the future this may bring.
