I'm here for

Hello all, this is my first blog(another place - http://hopesndesires.blogspot.in/) here so i thought of kinda introducing me. I'm a learner here, basically focused on spoken skills. It's been 3 days with EC n i m just feeling wow (:)). I'm an Indian, Quality Analyst by Profession. I love writing poems, short stories in English.......so sometimes while writing i stuck somewhere bcoz of less vocab. I can't remember words for long, so is there any solution for that ?

  • Hi, Prachi....My vocab. is also not much...but i found it's not having any effect on my spoken skills...as daily conversation requires much less vocabulary as compared to writing some serious blog ..

So as far as your spoken skills are concerned..you can improve it by speaking only...just learning the meaning of lots of words won't help much....use only those things which works the most :):)

  • I read your Hindi/Urdu poem in your blog.  Sometimes Roman style destroys the beauty of the language.  These poems can put the right impact when written in proper Urdu.  Daonagri also lack some 'letters' to express the emotion properly.  Any way, very nice poem.  Let me dare to give it a heading "Complaint of a lone girl" OR TANHA LARKI KI FARYAAD.

    Good luck.

  • Read as much as you can.  This will help you gain word power.

For speaking skill, try to make a like minded group, and speak in English with each other without any hesitation.

    Watch English Movies, decent ofcourse.

  • Glad to know about you, dear Prachi! Most welcome to MyEC! :)

  • Welcome to the world of MyEC bloggers. From my experience, reading a lot of English books/materials really help in building our vocabularies.

  • focused on spoken speaking skills. less  poor vocab

of course there is a sloution to this , My advice is to learn the words  in groups, I mean according to some certain topics...coulors, fruit and vegetables, action words, or one can also memorize the words with the same root/stem...differ(verb), differenciate(verb), different(adjective), difference(noun)...and so on...have fun!

  • you can find the vocabulary in IELTS or GRE books. You need to practice regularly. Without practice, it's impossible to remember words just by memorizing. Best of luck!!! You can visit my blog time to time to find assistance about grammar and speaking techniques.
