If I was not interested in English, I would never know this place, Yangshuo, which is a small town, a good tourism area in Guilin city, Guangdong province, China.I lived in Yangshuo for study English for about a year. Up to now, thoes days I spent were the most happiest time in my life and I really enjoyed stay there. Why I chose that place to learn English because I got to know from the internet there were so many foreigners from different countries to travel in Yangshuo and there were many English Training Centres with all foreign teachers which attracted me deeply. At first, I planned to take a course from one of those school and then work hard for a year. Actually, I just studied at school for not more than two months, the rest of the time was great I spent.I decide to check back to those days and write down with my photoes taken there.I would like to improve my writing skills so I will keep on writing every day in this Englishclub.
That's right, sometimeis, business climate is unavoidable. I think the pollution is not too bad in Yangshuo. You've been there so do you see many cars going into there, i mean the place is near Li'river and that streed called " foreigner streed".
I had a really great experience that I used to ride my little bicycle along Li'river to swim with my friends in the secret beach, i guess you may not hear about the place.
What a shame! One day, my bike was stolen and then I bought one again, but it's bigger.
I'll tell you what i really miss there and that was sitting on the bank of Li'river and reading under the trees. Sometimes we had a drink with foreign friends and I truely enjoyed talking with them.
Anyway, there were so much good time in Yangshuo. I suppose I will go there again when i'll have a long vacation. lol........
Hi Linda,
Yes, too many visitors can be a problem to a tourist resort. One of the worst problems is pollution, especially the pollution of environment. Hopefully, more and more people are now aware of the importance of protecting the environment. And I know local government is taking action to keep the resort attractive.
I've been to Yangshuo once. It was a two days' tour. Maybe I should have stayed there longer. I do felt the strong 'business climate' there - sometimes it's unavoidable, isn't it? But I do hope to visit it again.
Maybe It's like a FAIRYLAND about fifteen years ago. I heard a few foreigners found this place which was really like a heaven living there at that time.
I've been there in Oct, 2007. I think it's getting more commercial so it would never be back like before but it's really relaxing place, and you will really enjoy your stay if you go there.
I always said to my friends that you will be hard to feel that place where how relaxing it gives you if you don't stay there for at least ten days or longer.
Beautiful photos! I know there are so many foreigners living in Yangshuo - a very popular tourist resort in China. It's said that the foreigners decided to stay and live there because they found the place with all the breathtaking natural beauty very impressive and attractive - a fairyland.
