Yes, I was just reading the newly posted blogs this morning and was trying to spot a common mistake for a blog challenge.

It's not always so easy to find a suitable topic or theme for a blog challenge, though. That's why some of the challenges failed to attract our members here.

Most of my blog challenges are about grammar, words or idioms. That's why I was trying to spot a common learner error in the blogs for a blog challenge. To my delight, I failed to find one, which means our members' writing skills have improved so much.

I wonder if I can challenge our members to write about something else, say, an experience, or opinion about something, instead of grammar or vocabulary.

While most of our members agree it's helpful or rewarding to take part in the challenges, some may not think it's a good idea to have so many challenges here. They don't like to be challenged to do something - they're so self-motivated.

I enjoyed those challenges, though - especially Tara's monthly Writing Challenge. I posted 30 blogs in the month for the June Blogathon, but I failed to publish even one blog this month.

Do we really need writing or blog challenges, then?

  • Thanks Tara!

    I agree with you and will keep challenging our bloggers to write more. It seems so many members agree with that, too.

  • We can't let bloggers use the excuse: I don't know what to write. Challenges are great because they help bring our community together. Keep challenging our bloggers! Thank you!

  • Hi Expector, I'm not athlete and I'm not good in sport so I think I can't join Blogathon. You know, I even got many difficulties writing a blog so Blogathon is impossible for me now.

    Dear Mishaikh, I read some of your blog units. So was they posted for Blogathon?
  • @Onee

    Thanks for encouraging me to keep challenging. I agree that you don't need to write a blog for every challenge. I noticed that when you failed to write a blog, you did leave comments on those challenge blogs - I really appreciate it. Keep up your great work here!

    @Afro

    I enjoyed your comment - you 'need a challenge badly':) Thanks.

    @HONEY

    Thank you for your comments. Yes, I may have failed to have some blogs featured. Let me know if you think a blog deserves to be featured. Keep blogging and enjoy!

    @Luci

    Yes, I agree we should keep challenging others to write. Thanks.

  • Challenges are here for those who are competative and I bet there are many people like this! Don't give up, Expector :)
  • And my last thought..

    when I publish something, I always ask myself - why do I do it, which sense I want to put inside this text and which effect it will bring and which result I will have. If I don't have answers on this questions, I never post a blog in order to save the space around me clean :)

  • And by the way, I wish you could mention and feature blogs of people who write about useful or not traditional things ( I mean they don't discuss common things). Even now I'm re-watching featured blogs and I could argue that there are other nice blogs and bloggers but they aren't mentioned by anyone.

    I wonder why :)

  • as for me, I prefer to read blogs where people write something about their experience,life, thoughts...I don't read religious, grammar and other blogs that are just a copy of a common thought or just a boring grammar material :)

  • I like challenges. Sometimes I wonder about a topic to write then challenges help me to organize my ideas. And, the most important thing is bloggers get corrections. So, challenges are great! This month I did not write anything so need a challenge badly.

  • Dear Expector, I agree with setareh. I always enjoy your blogs and challenges, and actually I love grammar challenges. But I didn't take some challenge because I don't have any idea for the nice post, but keep reading and enjoying other's challenge blog. Sometimes, I hardly come up with a nice post for topics, but easily for other topics.

    Keep making challenge, Expector! I'm sure there are members interested with topics and other members are interested with other topics.

    For so long, I actually want to make a blog about passive voice in/or interesting dialogue, but I hardly think how to make it, in what style or scene....I don't know...
