Dear friends,
I have made a change in this post as, though I had downloaded the link to the website where I found it, I could not pass here the text as it was written there, I should have written it with MY own words. So, as I believe this post is important, I have decided to record it here and I hope you will understand my "so so" english. I guess that is not forbidden by google.
You may think that, maybe, I should have "rewritten" the post but, nowadays, I can't doing it due to a lack of concentration. Thanks for you understanding.
A friend of mine sent me this quote of Brenda Ueland, I found it so nice that I googled the word listening and found the very interesting article "Listening" that I wanted to share it with you. I hope you will find it attractive too.
The quote.
“Listening is a magnetic and strange thing, a creative force…When we are listened to, it creates us, makes us unfold and expand. Ideas actually begin to grow within us and come to life…When we listen to people there is an alternating current, and this recharges us so that we never get tired of each other…and it is this little creative fountain inside us that begins to spring and cast up new thoughts and unexpected laughter and wisdom. …Well, it is when people really listen to us, with quiet fascinated attention, that the little fountain begins to work again, to accelerate in the most surprising way.”
Brenda Ueland
The art of listening
1. Actively listen and give individual attention
2. Avoid interrupting
3. Ignore the distractions
4. Listening is not a debate
5. pay attention to nonverbal messages
6. Be open minded
7. Ask questions
8. Look for hidden meanings
9. Learn to effectively elicit information
And I will add a 10th : open your heart to the one who is talking to you and repress emotional answers

Hello Frank,
I am so happy you appreciate this post as it deserves to be and I love your comment. As I wrote up here, it's NOT mine and I found it on internet, so I made a mistake, instead of passing it here I should only have downloaded the proper link ( link of the post and not the link of the website !!!). The problem is that most of the time, many people don't take the time to check the link, so they miss important post.
You're right, being able to LISTEN and to HEAR what people say is a proof of love and of compassion. Thanks a million time for your comment.
thanks, many thanks for sharing such impressive awareness of what listening means. I've been highly interested in the topic for such a while, that I've fallen in love with this skill. It is true, you become highly respected when you pay careful attention what others are saying. Once I read that it is a real proof of love when you listen actively to others, that is kindness and it is a loving behavior that any person should have to make out of this world a better place.
