How does it feel to miss someone close?

I have been missing you... Guys, this sentence thanks to the modern technology might be in the near future vanished out of our life. I realized it a couple of hours ago, was thinking and thinking and decided to dedicate this blog to this issue, sooo here I am with some interesting views. First of all just dont think I'm freaking out, ok? I will show you right here and right now that I mean it.

Don't you think that the world we live in is overtechnologized? It isn't a big deal to buy a new smart phone, a modern laptop and many many other devices. Social media such as Facebook, Twitter etc. play important role in our life and thanks to them we can be 24/7 in touch with people, who we consider our closest ones. On one hand practical and without doubt it makes our life easier, on the other hand something what may change many things in current society and especially in interpersonal relationships. So let me ask one question:

"Do we have a chance to miss anyone?"

(Let me add that I am talking about people who are alive)

Why would we miss people, since it is a matter of one second to send them message. In my opinion to miss somebody has its own magic, it drags us into our past, it somehow forces us to recall memories and at least for a while to appreciate that one missed person. Another quiete an interesting thing I would like to point out is that we tend to overact and make a buzz about issues, which would our ancestors find totally ridiculous. For instance to say: "I haven't seen you online for two hours, was so worried about you, was missing you badly." Is this normal? From this example is obvious that some people just become very dependent on being still in contact with others and it makes them ehm little bit obsessed.

Anyway, now I would like to demonstrate above mentioned to you by these two examples:

1. A letter written 50 years ago by a woman who was missing her husband:

My beloved Jack,

I have waited for your letter for the centruries. Every day when I woke up, opened my eyes, the first thought I dedicated to YOU. I missed you so much and finally after three months I can read the first lines written by you. It is such a realease, one can hardly describe. You might think I am mad but I am so happy to hold the paper in my hands, the paper you were touching with love when you were thinking of me. The moment when I found your letter in the postbox, was one of the happiest of my life. I just wanted desperately to feel your smell from this letter, to read something from you.....

2. A message written yesterday by a woman who was missing her husband:

Hi Jack, what's up there? You dind't reply last night but I can undertand you were tired after the whole day. I miss you a lot. See you later and take care.

Can you feel the difference? Even though to miss beloved person might be painful, on the contrarery when we recall such memories, when we remember how badly we missed somebody, it is just a proof we cared and also something what shows us importance of privileged people in our life.

  • Luci all this missing matter is linked with the situations. Yes, it looks strange if someone says he/she is missing their loved ones even after a short time, (hours).

But didn't you ever hug yor kids when went to pick them from school. I am sure you hugged soon after he/she comes to you out of school. Why Luci? Wouldn't you missed them even they are away for few ours.

This is just my opionion and can be contradicted.

  • Laksh, you didn't get the point of this blog, anyway thanx for the comment. I was talking about appreciating people when we REALLY miss them and since we are thanx to technology still in touch with them, we have no chance to experience it.

eya, thanx for comment, hope your brother is doing fine..

Mr. Bob, exactly, things aren't the same but that is the life and we must somehow deal with it.. thank you for your comment, I do appreciate it because I see you got my point.

Nick, thank youuuu, m glad you liked it and it is sad you miss your parents but on the other hand you appreciate their presense in your life and hope you will meet them soon..

  • Nice blog, Lucio...reminded me how much i miss my Mom & Dad..haven't seen them for quite some time now...keep up the good work, Lucio...;)

  • True, things have changed. Writing and receiving romantic letters and cards was very nice, but may not happen again. When I was 30 years old and living in Africa, I only got mail every month or two from home. My grandmother died while I was there, but I was home before I found out.
  • Batuhan, well stereotype sucks and that is the point, try to do something new, try to renew it, come up with something interesting :-p btw I watched both movies you suggested and I liked them a lot, thanx!!! hope I will meet you soon in the chatroom to share my opinions on them...

Anele :-D :-D :-D lmao yeah m glad you got my point. Btw meeting sb in fifty years guess I wouldn't even recognize this person :-D nobody wants to be lonely so m ok with some short gap..

  • Lucky you if you are not yet bedridden when you meet him!  :)

  • If I can still be able to lift up my arms, hahaha!  Who wouldn't have rheumatism after 50 years?

  • Whew...I kind of pretty lost here, Luci.  I thought the subject was 'MISSING' per se.  I answered without considering the emotional side of a person.  So, missing just comes naturally to anyone.  Oh, I was not reading in-depth.

Now, I understood that your blog was dealing with emotions.  Of course, the wide gap that a person left will always have a greater bearing to our emotion as compared to the short ones.  It's more dramatic and may lead to the renewal of feelings as if they are just meeting for the very first time.

So which do you prefer?  The wide gap or the short gap?  Well, both have uncertainties, haven't they?  Meeting after 50 years!  I will surely give that person a nice punch on his face.

  • Anele, hahahaaaaaaa :-D when I sign out, I turn off my brain and do something totally else because sometimes I have enough of it :D for example now I know I still didn't record myself, started new group here and grrrr.. so I better relax lately and just wrote this one blog. BTW I disagree as for time. Let me come up with experience - my boyfriend had to go to the army, we were both 19 and he was 300km far away from me. He couldn't have come back home every weekend and wrote me once in two weeks. Don't you think that in such moments we realize, appreciate somebody more in comparison to missing somebody we expect their msg in a couple of hours?

  • Dimasss, yeah but if you didn't have it, somebody would leave you for some months, then you would find out what it means to miss somebody who is close to you...it was the point of this post..

fatma, thank you for your nice comment, you totally got my points and you are right, it might be sad but what to do.. let's move to the desert island :D

bia, m sorry for that one night I even didn't say good night but I wasn't here, so this is my late goodnight for you :D well, in the past men were sent to wars, nowadays they are being sent to other countries to work them and if financial situation of family isn't good and they can make good money like this... why not. So this is one of the examples. My husband went for three months to Mongolia, he worked there and luckily he had opportunity to go to the nearest hill once in a week. Only there was signal, so he was able to send me one sms in week and walked because of it more than ten kilometres. Thank you for link, I will check it ;-)

Yousra, yes, everything is up to us and up to our attitude, I agree with you. I was talking about the past, about how people had to deal with it and that nowadays it is easier but I think that we have less chance to miss somebody and we don't appreciate others as people did in the past.. thanx for your comment ;-)

Rasty, thanx for comment, you can miss both of people, I believe it. But since you know that somebody is able to answer you in few minutes, your feeling is gone.. that was my point.

Evaaa, thanx for your nice comment, I fully agree with you! People lack of social intelligence and I am asking - is it failure of society, parents or whom the hell we should put the blame on... Hard to say if it is also not something related to characteristic features but I agree that education isn't everything and people should be also taught how to get along with each other, how to appreciate close people etc.
