We all have our different ways to study English. Most of the English learners do self-study. For them it is easier and faster. Others join English clubs, like this, to enhance their writing. Read, read, and read - books, newspapers, magazine That's what I learned early on from our English class since elementary school.
Most important have a dictionary handy to look up vocabularies that you don't know the meaning. It's best to look the words/vocabularies in the dictionary than asking any body for its meaning.
Another, when spoken to in English, answer in English.
Review the English text books - elementary, high school and college. I did that. And, I discovered, I missed so many things about English grammar, pronounciation, stresses, etc.
And, don't forget the English lessons here in EC. I always consult those.
Last, and only if you can, join a Toastmaster's Club. In Toastmaster's Club, they teach Public Speaking in English only. I'm a Toastmaster since 1982.
Well, practice makes man perfect; Learn English vocabulary from various sources, new words, implement them practically when you interact with your colleagues, friends, lover :)
I think , the best way it's read and write down the meanig of words you don't know, until you will learn meaning and use the word and no more write down same one, and practising writting and speak skills, but i'm still learning so, if you have a better way !!! please let me know. :)

some additional advice: To learn english have to part of your every days. I mean it is advantage to spend as much time to learn as possible. For example: If you drive, walk, do any sport or any activity you can lesson disc or casstte. I know a girl who was waching cartoon a lot and it was improve a lot on her english. later when your level is higher wach movies or differnt kind of tv chanels....
I think the most important thing in studying English or any other languages is by practicing it as often as possible. We know that a language is produced from a habit that keeps on going in the long term. By practicing English, we can make it as a habit that won't make us feel hard to understand it.
English is very good language and speak in all over world it is an international language and presently require in every field and in every where. So i want only say that if we want to speak English it is necessary that we have to self practice, which became us confident about language and then i I think we should take part in Group discussion, like to share thought with people...........we have to write, listen to english songs, see english movie, news and read english newspaper..........these all facts play important role to learn english or any other language.
