- a simple question! When my husband moved from a local company to a foreign company, his boss usually asked him: "How are you?"It was about 5 years or more he didn't use English. At the first time he answered: "I'm fine.". The second time he replied: "I' fine and you?"His boss continued to ask him "How are you?" the day later. And this time my husband said: "I'm good!"He wandered why the manager always ask him that question. Fourth time because he had used "I 'm fine", "I'm good", to answer the question "How are you?", he made a difference: "I'm happy! (^_^)"His boss smiled and told another colleague: "Hey, he is HAPPY!".I laughed aloud hearing his story. Now, once again, you know how important English is!Luckily, I still understand what the boss meant after "How are you?". And I think everybody has rememberable first days at a foreign company! How about you?
The bottom line of your blog is that we should know English as our medium of communication. Yes you are right. But if you work with English speaking people, you will learn and improve finally.
If somebody ask from me HOW ARE YOU? I used to reply I'm OK THANKS.
After reading you blog I also thought to reply some different ways. Thanks dear, this is an informative blog for me.
Thank Jeffrey. Maybe I forget to express the situation here. The boss met my husband in the office. Because my husband was a newcomer so the boss want to ask him how he felt, how he done, how the works, how the office, how he was on a new place.... But my husband misunderstood. When my husband asked a colleague, the co-worker also understood like me.
I told my husband if a man ask him in our language that question, maybe he will answer the same. So the problem may not upon to English but the situation. Thank you for your comment.

To Mishaikh: you are right, my husband will learn more day by day in a foreign company. But I don't have that change. I work in a local company.
