Our country and the neighboring Egypt are famous of producing Hina. China and India also produce it. Hina or Henna is a plant with flowers. It needs a hot climate to grow. Its leaves grow opposite each other on the stem. I do not know about its scientific name, but according to my friend Adam, he is an agricultural engineer, it is called (lawsonia inermis). It is the species of the lawsonia genus. The leaves of the tree are dried and crushed. Water and other liquids are added to the powder to form a sticky paste.

Wow, while I was reading your nice topic the scent of memories of my Henna’s night’s celebration slowly……..Slowly sneaked into my memory. My family insisted to make our wedding at Jordan, while my spouse insisted to make it at Tunisia. So to end the conflict, I had two wedding parties, lucky me. As a matter of fact, I also had two Henna’s celebrations, as well. And lucky me, too.
At Jordan the celebration, Henna’s night’s celebration, takes its place three days. But at Tunisia seven days. Through these days the groom’s family brought the scented Henna with pomegranate blooms to the bride‘s family’s home with some gifts such as, clothes, golden jewels and some pieces of furniture. And that includes the sweets, fruits and the food. That depends on the financial status of the groom’s family.
The bride in these days clothes several colorful embroidered dresses. All Henaya, the woman who decorate the bride’s hands and legs with Henna, put the Henna on bride’s hands and on her legs by plastic tube. But nowadays it is not common to put Henna on bride’s legs. The siblings of the groom put Henna for him with their naked hands, at the day which is before the wedding day, directly. He puts on the traditional cloth. All the Henna’s ceremonies are accompanied with traditional songs which are sung by the elders of the family.
Finally my friend, Henna’s ceremonials are similar to each other at our Arabic countries with small differences. God bless you.

Hello, Dara Sir. At my place Hina is also used during bridal nights too and in the night of Hina, relatives and close friends come to share the bride and the bridegroom their joy ;) but there is no need to pay for the money to the relative of the couple. It is not necessary thing to do. And on June last year I used it at my niece wedding party.
