Today is the second day of the new Hijira calendar, 1446. It is named Hijra (immigration ) because Prophet Muhammad "peace and blessings of Allah be upon him" immigrated from Mecca to Madinah on the 12th of Rabee Al-awal, corresponding to the twenty-first of September 622. This was considered as a reference for the beginning of the Islamic year or the lunar year. It depends on the moon cycle to determine the Arabic calendar. It is twelve months and consists of either 354 or 355 days. Each month is 29 or 30 days.
Muslims use it for the different Islamic seasons and holidays like Hajj (pilgrimage), Ramadan, Zakat, and Islamic feasts. Some countries use the Arabic calendar as the official calendar for them. The first month is called Al- Muharam. Before that is the month of (Thul- hijjah) and during this month, and exactly on the eighth of it, people go to Mecca to perform Hajj (pilgrimage).
There are four sacred months in the Arabic calendar, Rajab, Thul- gaaiydah, Thul- hijjah, and Muharam. The Arabs used to stop the fighting and it is forbidden during Muharam. For different reasons, the Arabs stopped the war during these four months. Happy and prosperous New Hijrah year for all.

Sad thing is for some reasons Arabs "stopped" stopping war during Muharam to hurt Prophet Muhammad's grandson Husayn ibn Ali.
On the authority of Al-Rayyan bin Shabib, who said: I entered upon Al-Ridha on the first day of Muharram, and he said: O Ibn Shabib, are you fasting? I said: No.
He said, "This is the day on which Zakariya called upon his Lord, the Mighty and Sublime, and said, 'My Lord, grant me from Yourself good offspring. Indeed, You are the Hearer of supplication.' So Allah answered him and commanded the angels to call out to Zakariya while he was standing praying in the sanctuary, 'Indeed, Allah gives you good tidings of John[Yahya].' So whoever fasts this day and then calls upon Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, Allah will answer him as God answered Zachariah
Then he said, O Ibn Shabib, Muharram is the month in which the people of Jaheliyah forbade oppression and fighting because of its sanctity. This Ummah did not recognize the sanctity of its month or the sanctity of its Prophet. In this month they killed his offspring, took his women captive, and plundered his belongings. May Allah never forgive them for that.
Khaili mumnoon Nathaniel! Mutashakirum. The first time I know about the hadith narrator, Ibn Shabib. Of course, I know he is a Shiite and a friend of Al-Imam Al-Rida. Valuable information. Thanks, Nathaniel. I appreciate it.
Thanks Salah for your kind words. I'm Shia, in case you're wondering,
Sincerely, Nathaniel.
Oh btw, your first words are what we frequently use in Persian: خیلی ممنون، متشکرم
