Help me be a great teacher.

I am currently attending college to be an elementary school teacher.  One of the classes I am attending is helping me to learn strategies to instruct students in my class that are English language learners. I need to write a paper using my research.   I found this website and thought that I might get some helpful ideas from the members on this site.  I would greatly appreciate any responses.  What I am looking for is the following:

What advice would you give to an elementary teacher to help students who are learning English be successful in school?

What are some things that helped you learn English?

What are some ways I can make school a positive experience for my English learning students?

Thank you for any comments.  This will help not only me, but those who I will teach.

  • As a learner / pupil, I notice the teacher who adore, don't mind or dislike his/her job. That's really important for my motivation (in class).

Although I'm not a child, it's also easier and enjoyable for me learning in a funny and not always conventional ways. Inter playing each other is motivational for me :)
  • Have fun teaching and your students will have fun learning. If you enjoy, the kids will enjoy as well, simple as that ;)  Take in mind that children learn better through playing, that's a very important thing. So forget whatever old traditional method and be creative! Play with them! :D
