Hello ladies and gentlemen!

This is my 2nd blog. I expect it to be better than my first one. First I will introduce myself. I like learning English and joined to practice my English. Sorry to say this, I am disappointed with this site because people talk about making tea and cooking.I love discussing about grammar, idioms, phrasal verbs and other subjects related to English. Only few blogs are about them. Can anyone please tell me where to go to find the subjects about English?

I hope to write a blog everyday about English learning matters!

  • I hope first you and the other members will learn how to be patient with new members Risty. Thanks anyway for your boring advice.

  • EL, it is really sad to read someone grumbling here and discounting blog's purpose. Instead of complaining, why don't you try to read all of those and try to write your sincerest comments so that you can encourage other blogger to do better next time. I read all the comments here, the way to answer back to people are quite provoking especially if they oppose you or expressing a contradictory opinion. You think that's the best way to learn English? Because as for myself,I can't learn with such negative spirit.
Try to be friendly, there are many good members here. Try to be fair, eliminate prejudices and and false assumptions. Try to be positive.
Hope you'll change your mind about blogging as you yourself is using the facility. That's it. Good luck to you.
  • Miss. Mary I am not going to waste my time on you. You are the one who is wearing a mask in your avatar, not me. Just stay out of my path. Goodbye.

  • English learner I'm becoming really fed up of your nonsense. Don't dare to manipulate my words as you just did: "dragging my mother into this discussion" you said... There you're suggesting a very ugly thing that I didn't do. I didn't talk about your mother the way you're suggesting. My comment was: "Maybe you learnt your mother tongue talkin' about grammar and syntax with your mom as well" -- Because almost all of us have been lucky enough of having a family who taught us to speak our mother tongue. I'd just regret my words if you had not been fortunate of having a family when you were a baby/kid. Otherwise, there's nothing bad or ugly in my words, as you pretend to show with your manipulative comment.

I'm finding out with your comments that you're a very shady person. I prefer to keep away from people like you, I don't wanna get 'infected' of the bad vibes you spread.

  • Hey miss. Luci, I have read your recent posts and have come to the conclusion that you are a very talented writer with creative ideas. But you try to boss others. That's your problem. Sorry, it was you who asked for my opinion!

  • English learner... lemme explain that newbie doesn't mean that this is your first day on EC. In fact this term stands for a baby and it's first month of its life. What did you discover about me, ha?
  • Hello miss. Lucie, miss. Mary and Mr.AG, thanks for your comments! I am not a newbie here anymore because I joined this site two days before itself and have done lots of exploring! You all are very friendly and doing your best to help me. I am grateful for that. And very happy that miss. Mary is dragging my mother into this discussion!

I would like to explain something to you so it's not unclear any more...

1- I agree with Luci about I have a feeling that you are not a newbie here.

2- look at the top of the page and try to discover more about the categories of this site.

3- Basically, there are three "very obvious"  categories...

one for teaching English.. Second for learning English where you can find all topics about grammar, writings, Listening,.. etc. what you were looking and criticizing for.. please take your enough time to spend there and feel happy with what you want to have.

And then there is here (what is called MyEC) where basically you can "practice" English.. To practice English (if you understand what I mean) means to use English language for cooking, for politics, for sport, for making fun, for stating your disappointment (just like you are doing here), and so on..

So, What I wanted to say is.. you may find all topics here (including the topics that you don't like to see). So in short, my advice for you is to take what you want, and to leave what you do not want..

Something else, Welcome to English Club world with your disappointment, agreement, or disagreement.. this is how it's going here :)

  • "I am disappointed with this site because people talk about making tea and cooking" ~ English learner

Don't be disappointed with the site. Be disappointed with yourself for not knowing how to search blogs and articles here by tags or in the blog posts searcher (you just have to use a thing called 'keyboard' and type: "English grammar"... easy, right?)

I also hope, as you say in your last line, that instead of complaining for what you can't find here, you come with a 'solution' writting yourself blogs about English grammar or whatever you think it's super important. And it can also help you to improve your English even more if you write blogs of more than 3 lines, like you did in your previous blog. But this time I can see you wrote 7 lines... Good job! (well, it's bold font and big size... In regular font maybe it's just 4 lines, so still is more than 3 lines... *applauses*)

As Luci explained to you, the blogs you've seen here about cooking are part of a challenge. Challenges are very useful here since it give us a topic for a written exercise and it also helps to enrich vocab. But maybe you don't consider that as something important for learning a language, I dunno... Maybe you learnt your mother tongue talkin' about grammar and syntax with your mom as well...
