How rewarding is a teacher’s work when she receives those great ‘’thank you’s ‘’ ?
Have you ever admired a teacher?
As for me I haven’t ever dreamt about it even when chosing the University where I should study the English language as a profession. Only after having worked at school for more than ten years I realized what it is to be a teacher. Teachers do so much for changing the world ‘’one child at a time’’. It’s a noble goal, isn’t it?
Recently I have hear something about myself as a teacher and was greatly pleased and felt flattered , to tell the truth. I have two parallel seventh grades . The seventh A is better than the seventh B . T he learners of the seventh A are better in many other ways than the seventh B. In spite of all this I make more efforts to teach those who are the seventh B graders both as a teacher and as a pedagog. It’s not that I may sympathize with them more , but it’s because I know they cannot handle the seventh grade state curricula in other subjects , either . And what I heard from my colleagues was more than just a ‘’thank you’’. I’ve been prodding these poor kids since the third grade , I have actually shaped their character as much as I could, connecting almost all English lessons with life-like situations, adapting the text book to their needs and choosing the topics which THEY would like to study and making the term tests as much easier as required and so on.
now I am gathering the results of my hard work I have had influenced them in so many ways outside of education, that even their form-master confessed that her class really liked me from all other teachers who have taught them so far. Now when I’m looking back at my lessons all these four years I see that I’ve really done a lot of work but still more is ahead. I cannot say that they master the English language perfectly, but they’ve been trying and are trying their best.
The other day one of the greatest things happened to me , one of my colleagues has said these words about me ‘’ She was born to be a teacher and I admire her work , how she handles with those naughty and hyperactive and ill-natured and ill-prepared and ill-bred 25 seventh graders is just amazing, she has really changed them to someone better’’.First of all , never call your learners any of those words,on the second hand never repremind them if they were not worth it, and never show them that you really think that they have ‘’poor’’ abilities to learn .
To tell the truth I was really on the seventh heavens when I heard all this about me. It’s really not easy to be a teacher, one should be prepared in many ways both professionally and mentally , I mean a real skillful teacher should not only master the subject (or the English language is this case), but also they should be psychologically and pedagogically armed with different effective methods of teaching this or that skill and handling with this or that learner, treating with their learners as unique persons and individuals , with different needs and aims in view and abilities and characters and so on.
One of my learner’s mother has spent some years in jail (I only once had the ‘’lucky’’ chance to talk to her and later I learnt that she had been at temporary release.).
The other boy’s father passed away a year ago and has been beaten by his mother all that time, now he is just out of any control. When our social worker paid her usual visit to their house , she was just reaffirmed her belief in what we thought his mother had been doing.
Ok I’m not going to reveal the whole class’s story here in this blog, everyone has a story, I just wanted to tell you that every kid , every learner deserves better understanding from the teachers who have taken the responsibility to guide their paths , to instill the never –ending hunger or pursuit of knowledge and to inspire the confidence to overcome the hardships along that taken path……who knows from what family problems they’ve escaped before coming to school that morning!
So , do you still dream of becoming a teacher?..Are you ready?

they are just amazing miracles ....naughty angels always find a reason to fight for...don't worry about fighting...all kids fight..even we grown ups fight still, they dont fight at your presence bec you have set some exact rules...good for you..i know you will make a good and a loving father!
Haha, I tell my little niece and nephew that don't fight with each other. And don't go to the road blindly, always hold my hand while walking on the road. And my nephew will always sit in front seat of my car, because he's eldest! That's my rule, you both have to follow no fight over seat.
If you're agreed with my rules then only we'll go outside...lol, my sister asks me! Do they fight with each other and she get amazed to hear no from me.
Here is the picture of them!
thank you Syed Faisal Ali for your comment and what does Uncle Ali say to his niece and nephew?
Dear Noa you're totally right, it takes a lot of patience to teach children and you are the best SPAMBUSTER that I have ever met here and elsewhere ..thank you ! (I din't know you were this much wise and smart kitten)
thank you Little Tree , it seems you're not that much ''little'' you're much more greater than you think you are!
A teacher can mold a future leader. Teachers play important roles especially in today world when most parents spend their time working and leave their kids at schools. I really admire someone who passionately teach children, but I never want to be one. I don't think I like to take the responsibility.
The teacher play the main role in students life. When you're a kid you usually response to bad things by saying "My mom told me, it's a bad thing to take something from a stranger"
And when you grow up, you start mentioning your teacher, teacher said that, teacher said study hard to become a valuable person in this society, teacher said....
Very nice blog, keep it up
