It's hard to describe what it tastes like. The tree just bears fruit once a year. December is the time this fruit is ripe. I feel missing this fruit because I live far from where it is grown. It isn't available at any fruit stand or market.
This fruit is called wood apple. Locally, it is called 'kwut'.

This kind of fruit is found in Tra Vinh and Soc Trang.
I hadn't seen this kind of fruit before reading the writing of yours. There is no mention of eating it. I also googled its images. I suppose that you tasted of wood apple in your business travel to India where it is a tree native. I closely associated omai when seeing your attached photo. Anyway, it looks like appetizing.
Well, I didn't really know how to attach a photo into my post. I tried by copy an image and pasted into here, but I didn't work that way. The fruit is grayish brown, with rough rind. You can search on images.google.com. Again let me try to attach the image.
Some how the photo is not seen on my screen..so unable to check..however, the name sounds interesting..
No, I haven't. In fact, I have had not even heard of it before reading your blog. After reading your blog, I searched the net and found out this photo;
Is this the wood-apple you're asking about?
