Hajj (1)

Hajj, idiomatically or linguistically means intention. Religiously, hajj means intending to visit something greatened, honorable or glorified. The terminology in Islam implies going to Mecca in Saudi Arabia to visit (kaaba) the grand mosque. Hajj or pilgrimage is done annually to Mecca. Pilgrims perform hajj to retrace the steps of the prophets and recount their dedication to God. In Quraan, Allah said, ((And announce on people pilgrimage, they will come to you on foot and on every skinny camel, they will come from every deep and distant highway to perform Hajj)), Hajj is the fifth pillar of Islam. According to Hadeeth narrated by caliph Omar ibn Alkhatab, may Allah be pleased with him,Prophet Mohammed (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, (Islam was built on five, to testify that there is no God but Allah and Mohammed is his messenger. Do your prayers. Pay Zakah (chastity). Fasting in Ramadan and perform Hajj if You could do it).

At this time of the year, people come from different parts of the world to the kingdom of Saudi Arabia to perform this duty. It's an obligation once in a lifetime if they could do it. They wear Ihram once their plane comes over migat. The (ulamaa) scientists advise that it is better to be worn before coming near Migat. The captain of the plane or his cabin attendants usually announce the nearing of Migat, but it is better to wear ihram before that or if the trip takes one or two hours, you can wear Ihram at the beginning of it.

Ihram, migat, what is Ihram and what is migat? Ihram is wearing white clothes. They are usually two garments and without any stitching worn by males. For females, they wear their own clothes. Ihram is the first rite of Hajj.

Migat is the place which was specified by Prophet Mohammed to perform Ihram. Detailing this will be included in part two of hajj.
