Voice blog #3: Tung Blossom Season

Hi everyone! Have you noted that what those white spots are on the mountain? Those are what we call tung blossoms (also known as paulownia flower). This beautiful sight is the second major highlight of the year for flower lovers in Taiwan after cherry blossom season. Thousands of visitors go to hill and forest in April and May to see the blossoms up close. My friends and I have no exception.  We went to the neighboring areas and took numerous pictures of them the other day.

What makes them especially popular here is their snow-like appearance and colorful beauty - pure-white petals and bright-red filaments with yellow anthers. Thanks to their large numbers and size, trees seen from afar seem to be covered with a layer of snow. When the blossoms fall in large numbers to the ground, they often completely cover stretches of country roads and hiking trails.

Many parents also took their children there  for relaxing as well as experiencing a rich ecological surrounding. I found a mother who corrected some flowers from the ground, stringing the cord with and then put it on her daughter. See, how sweet and eye-catching that girl is!

Oh..instead of making the wreath, I made this one for MyEC members. Thank you for dropping by.  I wish you all a beautiful day.

    Hello, Grace!

Wow! I tried to find the name of that yellow flower that you sent me and opened the site with all Taiwan flowers. Grace, it's a flower paradise! You're lucky to see so many different flowers! But I couldn't find the name of that wonderful yellow flower.

Thanks a million for the magic music of Bach...I listened to it with great pleasure...I'm glad that modest Russian flowers reminded you about his superb music...

  • Grace we also have a flower with a similar name, but it's  very small. It's  called  the Lily of the Valley. It's a spring flower. Yesterday we went for a walk and picked up a bunch of them. Now they're in the vase at my home. They have sweet aroma.

  • Just reading your post, Grace! Sometimes I was unable to put my comments here :)

    Great blog!

  • Grace, this white lily is superb! It seems to me it's a royal flower...so white with golden anther, so pure, so beautiful, and it has sweet aroma.....I can imagine how beautiful they looked like in the vase at home.

  • @M.Adaway

I'm grateful to have your visit and encouragement on my post. My speaking is actually my weakness as I seldom had many chances to speak. Your inspiring words gives me confidence to keep going on. Moreover, thanks for adding me. Wishing you all the best!

  • @Galina

The girl wearing the wreath is like a little princess...very cute. I seldom saw dandelion here but it's similar with daisy with yellow color.

Another flower, lily, is now also in bloom. I love its light aroma as well as its  purity. I remember my grandpa planted it before in our garden. When it was in flower, it was decorated at home in a vase, that made our home more pretty and frarant..

Tomorrow is an international holiday honoring workers. Will you have a day off? Hope you have a relaxing day!
