I have always had a knack of reading horror stories, especially when I'm alone in my room with no lights on.
Watching horror movies doesn't activate your imagination as the books do, because the cast and crew have already imagined the worst nightmare possible for you. Here are some one-liner horror stories that I've read so far:
I burned the dolls despite of my daughter's crying. She thought I was the one who put them in her room each night.
I entered the empty elevator pushing the button for my floor. As the doors were closing I felt a hand covered my mouth.
I let my little boy sleep with me tonight again. I still like to snuggle with him despite the pungent smell of his rotting flesh.
'Okay, mommy, I'll go to sleep and not talk about the monster in my closet anymore. He's going to your room tonight anyway, right, mister?'
As she reached to his car, she drove away from that haunted house as fast as she could. When she caught her breath a raspy voice from the backseat said, "Leaving so soon? Awww..."
She ran to the next house, but the door was locked too. The girl collapsed in despair as the clawed hand dragged her back.
I'm not afraid of the cemetery. It's the only place the ghosts leave me alone.
He watched flames engulfed the only house he'd had. When the screams subsided he smiled, knowing the voices left him for good.
"The lake is so peaceful at night," she thought to herself, till she dipped her fingers in the water and something dragged her into the water.
My little brother says that mama killed him. Mama says that I don't have a kid brother.
I entered the dark room to turn the lights on, I felt a hand was on the switch before mine.
SWEET DREAMS...

Interesting short stories, thanks for sharing.
I'm not used to read horror books, apart from the Edgar Allan Poe's stories or 'The Exorcist' by William Petter Blatty. But I like to watch horror movies. So, right now, just comes to my mind the popular line that says the psychopath character from the movie 'The silence of the lambs':
“A census taker once tried to test me. I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice Chianti.”
