Golf Guy: Pass me the seven iron.Student: OK.Golf Guy: Have you played tennis before?Student: Yes, I love that game!Golf Guy: Great! I will hand you the seven iron and you will grab the grip like you would hold a tennis racket.Student: What do I do with my other hand?Golf Guy: Put it on the grip below the other hand so that it can "go along for the ride".
That is another good question Tara. Unfortunately that is not an easy one to answer.
The choice and use of different clubs, especially the irons, can only be determined by the ability of each golfer. For example. Julie might understand how to hit the golf ball properly before David. So naturally Julie will be able to hit the seven iron further than David.
You can teach each student what generally each club does but the proper use of each club has to be figured out by each golfer through playing on a golf course.
Thanks Tara and Richard for the question on the seven iron. The seven iron is a club that is "in the middle of the road". It is not the hardest to use nor is it the easiest. A good club to learn "the basics" with. Lesson #3 will be on balance and will be posted soon.

What is the seven iron used for? I hope you are going to tell us soon Golf Guy! Thanks for the great combo lessons. English + Golf! Looking forward to #3.
