lot's of people will say it's a new way of life to make people close more to each other in habits and traditions by modifying their lives into a new type of life , the modern type. while I believe it's not.According to a good book I've read recently that I found in a book fair , I say that Globalization is a new term refers to a new type of an economical system, and to make whatever it takes to achieve the high profits for serving the higher companies of this world, and to make all people in the world just costumers for those fortunes heads - as the author says-. So now it's simple to say that the steering wheel in this world is between selfish greedy hands that want to increase their fortune... And it's human natures when they lay a side their morals and religious beliefs.Chinese and Japanese nations ,I put in your hands as examples of nations who held and are still holding their traditions that come basically from their religion and on the other hand they took the whole advantages of the western technology and modern life. So why some of Arab people -not just Arabs but lots of countries as well- now still gasping for breaths in running after every thing in the western society ? ... I think it's kind of lack of knowledge!!. Anyway, back to the main point, as you can see here .. Globalization and Globalizists are trying to modify even the world's traditions into a costumer behavior, just for the sake of the fortune they already have . And imagine that the sum of fortune heads of those big companies is 225 and 4% of them can supply the poor African nation with shelter and education if they wanted and those are almost 10 persons, so you can imagine the dilemma. That companies issue reminded me of Prison Break ... you know ? the COMPANY ? :DThis book is a totally new perspective about this Globalization , I advise you to check it out but it's in Arabic. It's nice to read back your comments. If you know or have read something about that Globalization or simply if you like or not that new prospective ... kindly share ... Omar
well , yes for sure but I have to remember it first :D because it was long time ago.. and I as I recall, I guess I gifted that book to a friend of mine .. :DDD .. but don't worry, once I remember I 'll tell you ;).
Personally, I'm pro-globalization, Omar, for so many reasons.
I think all of us, one way or another, are enjoying the benefits of it.
Ofcourse, there are pros and cons.
There's always opposition in everything.
I don't care if rich people get richer.
As long as we, the poor and the average, are getting our fair share.
Thanks for the thoughts, man!
you are welcome Rabab .. to me, every comment is the first ;) ..
a sweet comment is valued by the meaning it holds and appreciated by the person who said it, not by the chronological order ;)....
thanks for your comment Rabab :) , and for the new quote ;)
Hey Omar,
Congrats for your first blog it's really a great "big" start :)
Woow many comments I am sorry I missed the chance to be the first to response ;)
Back to your post, your thoughts are very insightful; totally agree regarding what our societies do to follow the west dropping behind our religion and traditions.
I believe that Globalization meant to work for all but in reality it's like what you have described. I remember a quote for Kofi Anan I don’t remember the exact words but the meaning was: "If we don’t make the Globalization work for all; at the end it will work for none"
I think that's exactly the case.
I love Anele's opinion. Greatest freedom comes because of globalization itself. However, it should also be controlled. Do not say "in the name of globalization" to live haphazardly
Globalization is a term used by the giants of multinational companies to fool the people across the world, so that they can occupy their markets. And their marketing campaign is so glamorous and sophisticated, that it is almost impossible for people, to ignore it. China and Japan are very good examples indeed, who are successfully carrying both modernization and ethical/religious/regional/traditional values at the same time.
I think, other countries should learn a lesson from these countries. Otherwise, this globalization will lead them, into a blind tunnel, where they would be unable to protect their values.
Thanks a lot for this wonderful, and thought provoking blog!
Aren't we all hoping for such globalization? Anele,... Are we getting it ?
I hope that we embrace the term with open arms & open minds as well, not to swallow everything thrown to us.
thanks for the clarification Anele :)
