Game 2: Don't Say "Yes" or "No"

yes

In this game I will start by asking a yes/no question about your country. The first person to read it will answer the question in the comment section. The trick to this game is that you CANNOT use the words "yes" OR "no" in your answer. After answering the question, write a yes/no question (not a "wh" question) using "in your country" for the next person. (In your answer don't forget to tell us what your country is.)

no

Example:Q: Do people celebrate Mother's Day in your country?----------------A: Mother's Day is not an official day off from work in the U.S., but most people pamper their moms by buying gifts or treating them to a day of R&R.Q: Does your country have a monarchy?----------------A: We do consider Queen Elizabeth our queen, but she doesn't have any significant power in Canada.Q: Is sushi popular in your country?-----------------Language Note: This game is useful for speaking practice because it encourages learners to broaden their vocabulary and vary sentence structure when giving an answer in English.------------------Let's begin:Q: Do women in your country typically work outside of the home?(Remember, you don't answer this question because it has already been answered in the comments. Answer the question from the last person who left a comment. Make sure you are on the last page of comments before you answer and leave a new question.)

  • The financial crisis has hit Canada like many other countries. The car industry (especially GM) employs many people in the city where I live. As a result many people are losing their jobs and homes and businesses are suffering. Many say that Canada is doing better than most countries, however. Money we keep in banks is protected by the government.

Do people in your country tend to share the family home with many generations? (e.g. Grandparents and grandchildren living under the same roof)
  • What do you think the financial crisis?
  • I am from China .My country was influenced by financial crisis too,but my country encouraged people consuption and investment .You can start your own business which the goverment supported.
  • I come from Poland. There is a big recession currently. Employers cut down the salaries or reduce the regular posts. If you want to have enough money you must to reinwent yourself and start your own business, but there is a credit crash too and iven if you have some good ideas when nobody can't borrow you lot of cash you are not on the best way to success.

Is there also a credit crash in your country?
  • because of the financial crisis since the 70's more women have to work outside home to get some money and help the familiar economy, Mexico has suffered crisis after crisis for years

Do you know what a does to live a financial crisis in your country mean?
  • There are many "meat and potato" families in Canada, but I think it is less common than when I was growing up. (We used to eat potatoes every other night paired with chicken, beef or pork.) These days there are so many ethnic choices and I think rice or pasta dishes are equally as popular.

Does your country have a famous theme park?
  • I felt the strongest earthquake once.

Question: Is potato the staple food of your country?
  • Thank you it's very interesting. please never forget me.
  • Coffee shops are the "in" thing during this recession. I went to a movie the other day and I couldn't believe how "packed" the coffee shop was after. (There are many pubs and restaurants near the theatre, but these were not as full.) In Canada you can pay up to 5 dollars for a specialty coffee like a mocha! It is rare to just order a simple coffee anymore. Many coffee shops have oversized leather chairs to lounge in while you enjoy your hot beverage.

Do children in your country watch a lot of television?
  • Yes, we have lots of different types of food that people who have once tasted them in the UK always want them again when they leave but refer to them in conversation. The two most popular are the 'milk' and the 'bread' only because of the very high standards of quality in each.

In many parts of Africa includung Nigeria you eat a delicasie that is catterpillars from trees, what is the meal called in your country?
