Does your English sound choppy when you speak? Learning to speak English can be a complicated process. However, even after you learn the grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation, you still may find that your English does not flow like that of a native speaker.
One exercise that my students do to improve their rhythm and their pronunciation in English is to recite tongue twisters. Tongue twisters not only help with pronunciation, but when recited correctly, increase a learner's ability to have correct rhythm when speaking.
My tongue twister for today focuses on the sounds [s], [z], [I], and [iy].
Silly Suzie stopped to see the seagulls.
Did Silly Suzie stop to see the seagulls?
If Silly Suzie stopped to see the seagulls,
where are the seagulls Silly Suzie stopped to see?
