Were you intrigued of my post title? Finally, I said Yes to EC. Let me explain.I've been a member of EnglishClub since 2006. I love this site. Contents are very, very useful and valuable to learners of Engish. I consider this site very valuable in my writing and research. Grammar, idiom, the videos, even the jokes, and other features are truly a priceless gem. There were times I wandered to EC but couldn't access the blogs and some features there. But, one has to be a member to access the pages.I wanted to join the membership but, always, I procrastinated. My "later, later" didn't come. However, I know, I have to make time if I want to join. Time is already with me, but it's how I use my time. So, when time flies, I can't retrieve the time I should spend to EC. I thought, I really have to make time for EC.Finally, I did! After few try and errors, I sent my profile information. When I opened again my email I found the confirmation to my request. Finally, I was accepted!!!! So, now, EC and me are friends!.So, next writing will be my blog.
Hi Fe, never later to start... right ? I'm member since June present year and today I posted my first Blog... I though, I never will do it ... but it done... =)
Fe, the longer comment that goes:
"Yes, I think I found a very good and lively and wonderful Community here." will be very easy to post as a blog.
You will do it the same way I copied the first sentence up here in this. You can go directly to the blog or do as I try to remember to do. What I try to do when I remember is copy my text into my word processor where it is easier to edit and to read. Then when I am happy with it, I highlight and use the windows copy command (or the Control C shortcut) to make a copy. Then start the blog with a title for the title part. Finally I move the cursor to the part for the body of the blog and "paste" (or use the Control V shortcut) which places the text I copied from the word processor right where I want it in the blog.
If this is what you were asking for help on, it should be easy if you use the copy and paste commands in windows. I believe that is a right click on the mouse to bring up those choices. When you are done, you can go back and delete the old comment or leave it there if you wish. : )
Thank you friends for the flowers and nice comments.
Yes, I think I found a very good and lively and wonderful Community here. The Community here is more interesting, I think. And, I'm sure I'll be spending more time here. And, if I do, my time for other social site will lessen. But, then, there is more to learn here than elsewhere. Education is more important even if I'm already a senior citizen. Education never stops but in the grave. So, till then, I'll learn from each member here and what this site offers. But, I do expect whatever I learn from here will add to my knowledge and will get the wisdom needed for growing older.
I'm a senior citizen now. But, learning never grows old. As we age, new things to learn come up and about. So, in, out and about, I want to learn what I can.
As I grow older, I still felt a thirst for learning. So that when I first got this computer, and surfing, I never hesitated to open links about English learning sites. EnglishClub was the first I had registered and since, I learned a lot about the grammar and language they sent through its Newsletter which I received monthly.
After high school, I took us Commerce course and majored in Accounting. But, numbers is not my love. In fact, I feared numbers short of saying I hate numbers. I know even then, I love letters than numbers.
And, even before I could continue my college education, I had to work to earn an income to help in my family's coffer. The jobs I got -variably had something to do about Accounting, which I never liked but, had to. It was the an non-enjoyable job I ever did. The course I was studying took longer than the required four years then in 1960 because I worked during daytime, and study during nighttime.
It was also one of the most difficult time of my younger life - doing two major endeavors at the same time. I had no more time for other things that other teenagers or young adults enjoyed.
After marriage, I stopped working and become a stay-home mom, wife and homemaker. This time was most enjoyable because I had my own decision to make in many areas of my married life. Until my children started schooling, too.
As they schooled and learning, I also learned as a result to my helping them with their homework, projects and field trips, and school activities. It was then that I started to write - for publication. At first, I started with just letters to the editors of newspapers and magazines. Doing so, my old love of writing had resurfaced. Or, I could say re-discovered. Letters - not numbers was really my first love.
When I saw and read my first published writing, it became a reward for me to decide to learn more about writing and continue to write. I also started to writing personal journal.
As I continue to write, I also rediscovered my visual art talent through an old senior friend from our parish church. At 72, she still do paintings. I was amazed at the beauty of her hand painted window curtain. Inside me, I said: "I'll make mine."
She taught me the how to's and other techniques. From that time on to this day, I draw and paint.
In 1982, my friend prodded me to take up journalism. But, I had no money for another college degree. One day, she just took my hand, and pak! she placed on my palm some amount more than enough for my tuition fee for a journalism course.
One week after, I was in my first journalism subject.
And, since I never regretted I almost neglected my duty and responsibilty to my home and family. My hunger for learning and getting continued education never only strengthened. And, as I worked in the media - newspapering, I was educated by the many people, and events I met and encountered.
Well, I have to shorten my narration here, I think. All I want to say now is that: Everyday of our life there's always something to learn."
EC is now a good resource in my quest for further education. Because, there are many things to learn here. Certainly, I'm having fun, too.
Thanks for sharing your great story about procrastination. It has a happy ending! I think you'll fit in very well here. We can't wait for your next blog. Have fun!
Will I see you at my monthly writing challenges?
Tara
