Favourite Movies:The English patient

To tell the truth,I have a lot of favourite movies, but if I really had to choose one amongst them,it would be The English Patient.

The film is an American romantic drama, made in 1996,written and directed by Anthony Minghella, based on the book with the same title of Michael Ondaatje. The film won 9 Oscars, including the best picture, for what reason I like this film too.Pictures of the Sahara are magic! The casting is fabulous too, starring Ralph Finnes,Christin Scott Thomas,Juliette Binoche,Colin Firth.....,just to mention my favourite actors. The story of the film is told in flashbacks by a severly burned patient in an Italian villa,at the end of the World War II.It turns out that the patient was a Hungarian man,Count Laszlo de Almásy (Fiennes) who is co-leader of a Royal Geographical Society archeological and surveying expedition in Egypt and Libya. He tells the story of a love affair between him and Kathrine Clifton(Kristine Scott Thomas),which will end tragically.I like the film as it begins, its music, with authentic Hungarian songs,as the lullaby for Katharine, the simple fact that it always makes me cry,no matter I've seen it a couple of times before! All in all,I think one must see this movie,it's a wonderful film worth to be seen.
