I 've sometimes found that my students feel shy to answer the questions or take part in the conversations so I ask them to have a false identity ,a nickname probably "You are Michael..." for instance so they can hide behind that false identity and when they make mistakes it is that false identity actually not the real student, I've found it really practical and that helps them to come and participate more,so next time let your students have that false identity and see how they work.Alireza,A devoted teacher.
To be realistic adults are much more under shyness pressure than younger learners,in fact they are not afraid of making mistakes but adults are...that's why children learn faster than adults, adults are afraid oftheir mistakes and do not tend to talk and participate unless they have to,what do you think?
