False attempt

False Attempt:

She was in a slumber, dreaming about something beautiful. A young girl or any youth always dream about beautiful things, like their own inner innocence. Her beautiful world was shattered by an annoying phone vibration. Very reluctantly she picked cell phone, checked the caller identity, it wan unknown number. She answered anyway, hardly opening her sleepy eyes.

“Hello!”, she could barely hear herself.

“Hello, As salaam o alikum” (Peace be upon you). How are you?” Someone was saying on the other end.

“Hmm, fine, who is this? “Who could this this person be, she was wondering, still half asleep.

"It's me, I heard about the explosion and that's why I called"

She still was trying to figure out who the caller was when he confused her further more by mentioning the explosion.

"Who the hell are you and what explosion", thinking in her head listening to his blabbering more, in utter confusion.

"I heard they are taking people to Tripoli",

It then dawned upon her who he was and she rolled her eyes, " I am from Libya not Lebanon", she barked at him.

"Oh, but you are from Tripoli also, right?" Again rolling her eyes at his failed attempt of covering his stupidity and drama, she told him, "No, and there is a Tripoli in Lebanon as well".

"Oh, okay, I am sorry I called and disturbed", he apologized.

She ended the call thinking what a stupid idiot, who claims to care but yet does not remember where she is from!

Adding his number to his other 5 numbers in the blocklist, she went back to sleep hoping she could continue her beautiful dream.

  • Made me smile )) Just yesterday remembered the fact how many people confuse Bolivia with Libia...

But well, that is why I never respond calls with not identified numbers as well as I do not speak with people whose number is unknown and they do not introduce themselves at the beginning of a talk. )))

Nice piece of writing, Warda, keep on writing )))
