Writing Challenge : Pretty Paragraphs

I was reading this remarkable story about Richard Lee Norris who had "successfully" undergone a complicated face transplant procedure. I thought this story suits this month Writing Challenge : Pretty Paragraph since this is indeed a pretty remarkable story. Please click here to read the full article in Huffington Post UK.

Mr Norris lost most of his upper and lower jaw as well as his lips, teeth and tongue in a gun accident in 1997, and had been living as a recluse after that accident. Though the transplant is considered successful, Mr Norris will have to take medication for the rest of his life to mitigate the possibility of rejection by his body.

The Washington Post reported that Dr Eduardo Rodriguez with his team of 150 doctors and nurses had performed 36-hour operation at University of Maryland Medical Center.

You may read more articles in this matter in the internet just by googling the key word "Richard Lee Norris". They are many interesting articles written about this man and the success story of this transplant procedure.

Whether this procedure on Mr. Norris will be truly successful in sense that his body will not reject his new face remains to be seen. However,  I believed this is one truly remarkable miracle of modern medical technologies and remarkable doctors and nurses.

  • Dear Fahime .. yeah.. I think modern technologies are really miracles send by God. And in this case, the doctor and his team performed it beautifully. Thank you for reading my blog and reading the accompanied article.

  • Oh my God :-( Dear Noa, ur blog is so special, I read the complete article of his transplant process, ohhh I can't believe there were no nose or lips on his face and now... Well done docs and their great team, they've created a miracle, they r the emanation of God...

Thxxx my dear Noa, I really enjoyed ur pretty paragraphs...

  • Yes Vieettt .. it was terrible. But to look at his new face, it's hard to imagine how it was deformed before. I really hope this miracle procedure can be performed to many more victims.

  • It's such an interesting story. His face looks like he experienced a grenade or bomb explosion instead of an accident gun. It was deformed terribly.

  • Hi Tara Benwell .. thank you for such compliment and reading it.

  • Wow! This is a really interesting story. I think you've done an excellent job at paraphrasing. Your paragraphs are pretty, too. Great writing!

  • Dear Ha, I'm glad to be able to share some good news, for a change. Thank you for reading.

  • OHMY Anele .. I don't want to imagine some doctors trying to be another Frankenstein's doctor.

  • Oooppssssy Mr. Bob .. I should put a "warning" for the members if they click on the linked articles. Even though maybe the damage was self-inflicted - unintentionally, but I had to admire the grit of this man to go through all those pain and stares by people. I hope he has a better future with this new face.

  • I shouldn't have read this before dinner. Now I won't be able to eat without thinking about the poor man with the injured face.  I'm very glad I didn't look at any pictures and I only want to see his new face after it is completely healed.

A wonderful thing, but just hard to think about being shot in the face and then all that damage to deal with. Another reason to be VERY careful with guns.
