Expector Smith's blog challenge

I was getting restless after waiting for Shiv for more than an hour

"I don't think he will come, Shoba. Just give up on him," my brother said to me.

"He might have got caught in the traffic," I told him without meeting his eyes.

"Then why didn't he call you and say so?" he inquired like a policeman.

"He may have called me. My phone is not working," I lied to him.

"Come on, face the truth, Shoba! If he is really interested in you why hasn't he come yet?" he wanted to know.

I really had no answer for him. But I replied back stubbornly, "He could have got tied up with some urgent work."

I was very angry. It was my first date with Shiv and I hated being stood up. I hated it even more when my brother tried to convince me that Shiv was not serious about our relationship.

Just then, the door bell rang and Shiv walked in with a red rose.

"Sorry, Shoba. I thought I had a date with Geethu and went there, or else I could have come earlier," he said with a silly smile and gave me the rose.

My brother started to roar with laughter when he heard this. I went mad and threw the rose on the floor.

"What a gift I get for trying to excuse Shiv by saying all these may have, might have, could have," I thought to myself.

  • Thank you, dear Onee-chan.

    Have a nice day!

  • Dear Shoba, your brother could be your consolation. Keep on smiling! ^^
  • Correct, dear Expector, Shiv couldn't remember who his date was and went to Geethu's place instead. But I thought he liked me and waited for him.

Now you are not laughing at me like my brother, are you?

Thank you very much for leaving a comment.

  • Thank you for your nice comment, dear Onee-chan.

Something similar has happened to me. My brother laughed about it because he always enjoys teasing me.  And he correctly predicted Shiv wasn't the one for me. But I was upset about it. :(

  • Excellent!

It seems you have used the structure correctly.

I may have failed to get it: 'Sorry, Shoba. I thought I had a date with Geethu...'. It sounds like Shiv had no idea who his date was.

  • It's funny when you said your brother Started to roar with laughter. :D

Anyway, I wish you did not get sad if this was the real story. To see the reaction of your brother, he might have predicted something like this would be happened.

Thanks for sharing. Well done, Shoba! Have a good day! :)
  • Dear Evangelina,

You may be correct about not getting the funny part. I also didn't find it funny, but it was quite funny for my crazy brother. That is how the story goes. :)

Thank you very much for stopping by.

  • Thank you for the appreciation, dear Setareh. I am happy that you liked it my post.

  • Hahaha, dear Shoba it was so funny. You used the structure plus some expressions. Well done! Thanks for sharing.
