Benjamin Franklin used to say that "if you like your life don't waste your time because it's the material your life is made of". I totally agree with this quotation, it's one hundrend percent true. Unfortunately, very often we waste our time by sleeping too much, doing needless things or just sitting in front of computer serfing global net without any aim (it's very actual for the XXI century). Turn your head back to your past and answer the question: was your time been spent in the most useful and practical way or not? Most of all will choose the second answer, and so did I. Thoughts about minutes, hours, days, months and even years of time-wasting makes me sad, and the only person to blame is myself.
But, as the famous Russian proverb says, "late" is better than "never". Imagine your life organised with maximum quality, you always have time and prohibility to do anything you want, every second of your daily routine is under control. The thing that was feigned to help us is called "time-management". It is not actually a science, but it has very much in common with psychology and sociology. You can hardly find a person who has never heard about it, but you can twice hardly find a person who uses time-management postulates in his everyday life. Book stores are nowadays full of publications devoted to time-management, so it wouldn't be a problem for you to find, read and chew one or several of them.
The main piece of advice I want to give you (according to the books) is "planning". Remember, that successful man is well-selforganised man. Begin to plan your daily deals, problems and cases beforehand - it'll bring you at least 2 hours of freetime every day. Let daily books and electronic organisers be your best friends from this moment. Write everything you want to do, should do and must do in your diary. Roughly speaking, if you always forget about cleaning your teeth before going to bed, write it in your diary with remark: "the most important problem. Solve it for sure", - soon cleaning teeth wil become such a habit for you as breathing.
The second piece of advice is waking up as early as possible. As another Russian proverb says: "Who gets up early is rewarded by God". The most successful businessmen and other celebrities wake up even at 5 or 5:30 AM. What for? They have at least an hour more to think about forthcoming day than to-sleep-lovers! Every second of their workday they are awared about what they have already done, what they are doing at the moment and what they will do two hours later. Their efficiency is unbelievable, it seems that they are some kind of superheroes, but in fact they are merely well-organised human beings. Is it necessary to compare them with unorganised and nervous people like ourselves?
And I want to finish with the third piece of advice: it is called delegation. Don't be scared to delegate some of your problems to other people, especially if they are your subordinate colleagues. Have you ever seen your director doing something that every fool could do? Very rarely, I think. Every smart manager delegates most of his work to others, and, so he has more time to solve the most important and complicated problems (or just think about the gift to donate to his wife, how to spend his vacations and what is the main sense of life).
Good luck!
P.S. My friends, Happy New Year to all of you! Best regards :)
Yours sincerely,
Tyoma

Hi! I have read many books about time-management. My thougts about it are:
Zahra, thank you! Great post)
Very useful and smart thought about "baby steps". In this case, I reminded quite a similar thing that is called "the method of Swiss cheese" or "eating a big elephant" - to solve a long-term problem you should every day "eat" a part of it, and so, step by step, the problem will be successfully solved.
And, by the way, another piece of advice: if you have a little, but veeeeeeery unpleasant task (such as to call very tough client or make up your room) "EAT" IT IMMEDIATELY!
"Eat a frog method" as it called :)
Thanks again!
Thanks for everyone.
As I had expexted some of you didn't agree with me and the authors of time-management publications. It's your right and your choice, but I want to respond to some of your notes.
Nafis, Ramona and Valentine - whay do you mean about "necessary things?" And what would you do if there're at least three necesarry things to do at one time? Valentine - you're very much mistaken about "living in a hurry". Do you know who lives in a hurry? Only the person who doesn't know exactly what to do at the moment - he has a lot of problems to solve, but he doesn't know what to do firstly - while starting a new project, he suddenly understands that he has another project to be started more urgently.. and so on. Precisely THIS PERSON is very unefficent, he becomes angry, stressful and worried very, very easily (from my own experience) - it seems to be that he has an eternity of problems to solve, but in fact, there're only a few of them. And if he thought about them and wrote in his organiser (or diary) the day before (or early in the morning) there wouldn't be such troubles as "don't know what to begin with" and others.
STRESSFUL PEOPLE ARE NON-ORGINISED PEOPLE.
To name the well-organised man "the man in a hurry" is the greatest stereotype. Actually, he has at least 2 hours of freetime per day than the person who lives "at the moment" with such thoughts as "if we control every second of our life through some times we'll go crazy". We have much more chances to go crazy, when, for exemple, at the age of 45 we'll find our life being far away from our dreams and wishes. We'll turn our head to the past and be very much surprised to understand that lion's share of time was spent to absolutaly needless things instead of doing something useful to archive main life aims.
Good luck ;)
I know that "Time is gold" but I simply do not think about it because thinking about time makes me not to be efficient at all. Simply doing what is necessary at this moment is more effective for me than planing. Always something happens that interfere with the plan or if you can't catch up with your plan, you will be angry, stressful and worried. So, it is good to have goals and a big-picture but it is better to live at this moment.
I agree that time is running and we have not time to live. We always are in a hurry and we must be self-organized. But I think we need to have the timetables in our working life (yet more Russian proverb “do not put off till tomorrow what you can do today”) not in our ordinary life. If we control every second of our life through some times we’ll go crazy.
PS- If you don't mind,I've posted a blog to share my comment on your blog ...
Again, thanks for the nice topic and informative blog
:)
Hmm...It makes me nervous to think about time ...Better to let it come and go ...
You know, I think too much of thinking about time and efficiency may be useless...
We shouldn't pause so much on organizing time ...You know, I always liked to be well-organized and do my chores based on a serious plan ...But most of the times, the plan failed to be put into practice ...Maybe the plan was forcing me too much ..beyond my power ...Or it was too much strict and inflexible ...Hmm...But I can't deny that having schedule is a key in being successful and making the most of the time ...But what I say is that we shouldn't spend too much time on planning ...Some times when we sit to plan and we think of many many chores to be done, we get nervous and upset and it's so bad ...
We can take "baby steps" ...As you mentioned, an example is brushing the teeth before bed ...We can decide that from now on, I'm on the track of doing it every night ...We can have sticky notes on the mirror or somewhere else that we see many times everyday, to remind us of doing this minute plan of us... A single plan every day ...A single note ...
Then after some time it automatically becomes a part of our daily plan ...
After some days we put another change in our schedule ...And we shouldn't be worried about time and not having done too much ...Accomplishing a single goal is better than nothing ... To fully grant a wish of ours is better than doing things too fast with no good result ...
After some time, when we made sure that now the previous plan is a habit of us, we can come to another minute plan !
This procedure is the best for implementing changes in our lives ...
For getting up early, or limiting the sleep hours, we can follow the same procedure with a slight difference ...Every day we plan to wake up 10 minutes earlier than the previous day ...Gradually we can lessen the sleep hours of ours ...We follow the procedure till the time when we reach the desired hours of ours ...
For studies, the best plan is the same ...Baby steps ...Before the semester starts, I should promise that everyday, I study the lesson I've been taught that day ...And I shouldn't be lazy nor a procrastinator ...If sth unwanted happened that I couldn't study one day, soon after the problem is removed, I have to compensate ...
This way, we won't be aware of time and how fast it goes on ...
One important key is also to be considered ...We shouldn't expect ourselves beyond our abilities ...Yeah,we have unlimited power, but we can not impose too much force on ourselves at a time ...little by little we can extend our limits ...
Little by little ...Baby steps ...This is so important ...
Good topic...
Thanks a lot for sharing with us ...
Have a nice time
:)
