Do

” Between Austria and Italy, there is a section of the Alps called the Semmering. It is an impossibly steep, very high part of the mountains. They built a train track over these Alps to connect Vienna and Venice. They built these tracks even before there was a train in existence that could make the trip. They built it because they knew some day, the train would come.” (Under The Tuscan Sun)

There are days when everything is just in a standstill.  There is nothing in front of me to rise to the occasion, it is just a simple unimportant day.  How does one go beyond the ordinariness of the present?  Under layers of second thoughts and doubts I took a glance back.  Is there a way to affect the quality of my day?  Well I thought, how does one go about to make a chair, table, or a dish?  By the simple act of doing, one can make chair, table or a dish.  How did we reach the moon?  Before the 20th century no one reached the moon.  Many dreamed about it but they never went about to do the necessary things in order to reach the moon.  Then some people sat down seriously, and began to do the 1st step and then the 2nd step and finally at last they reached the moon. It is an act.  A positive act, uttered by the greatest of all leaders: Jesus, He said Go. Do. “Do unto others what you want others to do unto you.” It is not something to be waited for,  it is something to be achieved.  To do something positive, something good even for the most mundane of reasons like doing laundry so my kids can have fresh clothes to wear, preparing my lesson so my students can learn even one new word today, breakfast on the table and a kiss to start off the day.   Doing whatever it is for the good of the other is comparable to the great inventions that has revolutionized our world, dwarfed distances, killed physical time , wonders that connect people and lives. One solitary word with so much potential “Do.”  So for today this is what I have done and I dare say it is good enough!

  • Wow! I like the paragraph you've made. So simple of word "do". Yes, it's an act that we should do. "do" is the power of change. I feel good after reading your nice thought.

    Thanks, Alice. :)

  • Nice blog, thank you for sharing.

  • Thank you Camel! Yes to act is to take part in a day and not to let it fade without leaving your mark and I am really happy you took time to share here. :)
