Would you like to travel with me for a while again? No problem, guys, just enjoy the atmosphere and relax while reading my blog :-) This time I will take you to the Croatian Island called KRK, where I spent one week with my family. It is one of the biggest Croatian islands, situated in the northern part of Croatia in Adriatic sea connected with the mainland by the bridge (btw if you are curious just google Krk Bridge).
It is almost 860km far away from the city I live in and we went there by car. Oh yeahhh….now I can imagine your surprised faces :D Whaaaaaat? By car? Haha, here in Europe it is totally common to travel like this and many people do so. Luckily we have good highways, so it isn't big deal travel safe and fast. Well.. finally after many many hours, we reached our destination Baška /Bashka/ at 6 pm, totally dead as it was during our journey 35 degrees! Baška is the pearl of northern part of Croatia as it has very beautiful almost 2 km long peblle-sandy beach and is situated in the valley, surrounded by the rocky mountains and pines. Well, no words can describe such beauty so let me show you my picture I took while climbing the mountains, where I little bit injured my leg! :-)
You see? I didn't tell you any lies, location of this touristic destination attracts many people from Europe and that is why there is one disadventage, which might distract some oversensitive tourists. What is it? :-D Well… like I told you the beach is very beautiful – so yeah many many people have to see it and spend their time there, which means – this beach is DAMN CROWDED! :D To be honest, I felt like in these pictures from China where people just lie next to each other on the beach..ok ok, I am exeggarating but luckily not so many people were swimming in the sea, which I enjoyed a lot as I felt some privacy at least there :-) We experienced huge waves – in fact I have never seen anything like this and we enjoyed jumping in them with the kids a lot!
What else can Krk island offer you? Depends on your nature… I am history lover, so I forced my family to visit the capital city of Krk island called.. haha KRK :D It is awesome to walk there in the narrow streets, to visit the Frankopan Castle, to get to the harbour and just enjoy this touristic mood, drink coffee and feel relaxed...
Another tip for great trip is to visit a bay with healing mud situated in Soline Bay. Here people come and put mud all over their bodies. This mud can heal rheumatism but I didn't get why some people put it on their faces! Weird people, right? :D For better imagination I am here with these two pictures :-)
Walking in the mountains is the best relax for me and we decided to make some trips to enjoy breathtaking views of picturesque landscape, which are unforgettable. Some sceneries will be forever kept in my memory and I hope one day I will come back and walk more in heights because this is more enjoyable to me than to grill my body on the sun down there!
Comments
I wish I could go travelling around the world. I really want to travelling to Europe after Dubai exactly hahaha. Nice photos and writing anyway, Luci!
Ohhh, I am glad to see you around!!!! It is my pleasure to read your comment on my blog :) thanx a lot ;)
Accommodation?
Well, we rented an apatment (two bedrooms, living room with full equipped kitchen and terase) via booking.com and I can't say it was too expensive.. we paid for four people per one week $1100
Food?
We went to the restaurant twice there because it was kinda expensive - I would say overrated. As far as I know we were lucky to get menu for $14 per person, kids got one pizza. Common main dish as I saw it everywhere on menu - containing fish and fries or potatoes was usually $24 per person...sooo we bought sth in the market, sometimes cooked, we ate grilled chicken or kebab etc. and once we bought fish in the morning at fish market close to the harbour - as far as I remember it wasn't anything expensive. As for ice cream I remember it was $1,5
How to roam the area?
If you wanna see it all around you can just walk because there are touristic marks on the trees like in my country and you just follow them :) btw m gonna write a block about it soon... you can walk in the evening - there is very long promenade almost 2km, there are also travel agencies selling ship trips etc.
How're the locals?
Locals are friendly and nice, I would say - btw they know English :)
What you've got as souvenirs aside from your magnificent photos?
I bought there another snow globe watter ball for my collection with symbol of the city and we also bought local wine ;)
