[ In Dr. Drakhshan's class ...... Suddenly his cell phone rings ]
- " Hello, honey ! how r u ? .......
Aha ! Ok !... I'll buy that on the way to home.... " [ then hangs up ]
" He was my 4 y.o son... We've got a serious problem about him: can not speak Persian coz we've spoken with him in English, only and we don't know what to do for his school!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! "
What have u done to that boy, man ?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
U've replaced English instead of his mother's tongue which is Persian ?! The language that's one of the bests and of course difficult enough to learn.... Yeah ! English is important as well but it can be learnt really easily beside that.... at least he could choose another language -.-
It's been said :" because of Persian grammar and its cultural issues, ones who speak in this language as their mother's tongue can learn other ones easier and faster "; And I believe in it coz I've exprienced that. This boy has lost this opportunaity up to now and needs a long time for learning Persian.... And esp the issue of falling behind school by being unable to understand the lessons !!!!!!!!!!!!! -.-
I'll never do the same to my child for sure !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just really love to meet him again and ask :
What was ur solution ?!!!!!!!!!!
Comments
@ Mahgol :
He hadn't told us, he does also surgery... But I could guess that by his face :P
I do agree with u that ppl will have to learn Eng by the force of society... but its pressure's not that heavy so make every1 learn that by heart... And as I said it might be better to choose another language...
Nice solution for teaching a child German... anyway, I don' wana act like Dr so that (s)he falls behind the mother's tongue at that age and won't be able to go to school :S
Thanx for the comment... I do agree with the qoute... BTW, one must be patriotic about this issue.. Cultures have been under attack of foreign effects !
it is the problem everywhere actually we ppl prefer alot to english ......we should do that coz it is international language.......but the mother tounge is also important coz it is important for ur country for ur school for ur family........
casey miller siad that" our native language is our second skin" ,so we should prefer that....teach our child that what is it n what is the role of it...
@ Vivi :
Aha !
Thanx for that !
I must go for searching over that....
I wonder if there is such thing as dialect in English-speaking countries. When they speak their own dialect, you can't understand them even though you're so good at English listening.
Enghlish tip:
dialect - language spoken only in one area of a country.
@ Smith :
First of let me thank u for the word " dialect " such a useful one !
This is really intresting that there are dialects in China.... I just wonder how it's difficult for foreigners to understand ur language.... Somehow this is the same with Iran... I mean there are some specific dialects in here but mostly in other provinces we have special accents and each of them, sweet enough by a class of themselves....
We're lucky that we do not deal a lot with these kinds of issues in English !!!!!!!!!!!!!! ... Too bothersome it could be !
Fun topic!
A lot of people here in China can communicate with each other in their dialect. They seem to be able to express themselves and understand each other very well in their dialect because they talk and laugh. They can speak and understand standard Chinese and even English, but they tend to use their dialect in their daily life.
There are so many dialects in China, especially in the south China - on one side of a hill people speak a dialect, while on the other side of the hill people speak another dialect. I can't understand them if they speak their dialect, even though I'm Chinese.
By the way, I can speak my own dialect instead of speaking standard Chinese.
@ Syubi :
Intresting example, deah !
@ Vietnamese :
Wow !
Such an intresting thing they've done !!!!!!!
Okkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk, then !
I accept it..... It must be oveh great.... I'll do this on my future children hahahah !
A family that is a neighbor next to my friend house has two daughters . From the earliest age of the daughters, they divided two languages to talk with their children " French and Vietnamese". The daddy only talked with the two girls in French and the mom is the remaining language. And they got the good result when applied this method to their children. Now, both of girls are over 20 years old and they are good at both of languages. But everything has two sides. For another family, they used the same way to teach their children, but the children had a mixture of two languages when talking with their parents.
Obviously, I think you can apply this method for your children. He's 4-year-old, no worries to teach him the mother's language.
Best of luck.
