I guess that you have the same so called "racial experience" in EC when we see different people from different countries. We must admit that all of us represent their Motherlands here and we judge the countries by the people who represent it. Don't you agree with me?
Even if we proclaim that people are different and there are good and bad people in every nation we still have this ancient prejudice that, for example, all jews are greedy, all muslims are terrorists, georgians are obsessed with women and all russians are alcoholics (no offends).
These are so called "social stereotypes" about different races and nationalities that cover our planet like a spider covers a fly with its net. And I must admit that I have the same stereotypes that I try to destroy but they raise and raise again like a phoenix from the fire.
I also want to present you a short movie created by Nancy Spetsioti. Watch it, please.
I guess that we all can think that we are better or superior than all people around us and it doesn't matter if we have the fundamental background for this or not. But when health or other problems come to your family, you can get help even from those people who were despised by us for any reason.
This long-lasting fight inside your head will last forever and it will never end. But what we can do, we can realize, feel and catch all those silly stereotypes inside us and bring them into light. And after it we should examine, prosect and destroy them.
Maybe these operations made by all of us will help to change the destination of the highway called "The human history".

To some extent I go with Evan comment since there will always be people who think their beliefs are the only true, politicians and people who rule our societies like a flock of sheep play an important role in it.
In my environment there are people from several nationalities or races and I don't have a special behaviour with them, at least with the ones who integrate in the society.
I also think Ec is surely a good website to destroy (or reduce) this extereotyps you refer.
Btw I wonder what Eastern Europe or Russians think about Spanish or southeuopeans people :D ah, Good movie that one!
well, first of all thank you for your effort, racial acts against someone basically are offence against humanity in general. people usually do not release the profound effect left on a person faced racial act.
Evangelina, but the great deal is when you catch yourself on the thought that "hey, it's my stereotype, take it, shake it and kill it". Actually I don't like people who say that they love the whole world and all people there including "not so good people" :)
I like people who can accept not only virtues but vices too and can cope with them in different ways. I guess sometimes we should confess in front of ourselves about the things we have inside in order to cope with them.
As Saba says, nowadays TV and mass media influences the human mind a lot. Even me who doesn't watch the TV and even don't have it (but I read news in Internet), have these prejudices not because I'm ignorant or illiterate but because I face people...
But the thing isn't not only in your prejudices and stereotypes. Our mind is full of it and the older we get, the more we have. The thing is that people can't realize what a stereotype or a prejudice is. This is the worst thing.
Back to the movie, I liked that guy and dislike that family. This is a vivd example how racism and prejudices are brought to young minds by stereotyped parents.
Evangelina, I didn't find any offensive motive in your words :) I guess we are on different levels of perception the same information :)
By the way, who has interest towards this topic, watch the old Hollywood movie "American history X" with Edward Norton as a main hero. I suppose it's one of the brilliant movies of this actor and about this topic.
