civil servant

today I happened to hear that in CCTV9 the "国家公务员” was translated to civil servant. It's so interesting. I doubted that it was translated decades ago because the meaning had been totally changed. After searching online, I found that this word imported from western world, no doubt it was translated to Civil Servant not governmental official. It first came to world in England in 19 century, then adopted by USA, France,Germanyand many other developed countries. In China it was put forward in 1987 and formally carried out in 1993(you could think out that our governmental officials were very serious that it took them 6 years to carry out). After some years, it entered people's heart gradually, especially in recent years.

This year 1.41 million people took part in the test to compete for the 16 thousands positions with ratio 88:1. Two experts analyzed the reasons with Tian Wei in Dialogue. They couldn’t speak too freely but you still could see some worries in their thoughts.

When in the competitors’ heart the 国家公务员 really meant civil servant, then, we will enjoy our lives freely and happily.
