Cat Lovers' ( Facts About Cats)

Friends,

I know there are many members who love cats;like to have them as pets ;like caressing and much more .

so, here are some interesting facts for CATS. " BLOG DEDICATED SPECIALLY TO CAT LOVERS"

A cat is defined as a domesticated carnivorous mammal. Each cat has different features which differ from breed to breed, but they all generally have soft fur, short snout and retractable claws, and are very well known for their hunting abilities.

1)Cats spend 70% of their day sleeping which means a cat that is 9 years old has been awake for only 3 years of its life. When awake, a cat will spend more than 30% of its time grooming. lol

2)When comparing a cat and dog brain, a cat brain is biologically more similar to a human brain. This is because cats have the same regions in their brains that are responsible for emotions....so say meow :D

3)In 1963, French cat “Felicette” was the first cat to ever travel into outer space-did you know ??

4)Cats use their whiskers to find out if a space is too small to squeeze into. They also have no collar bone which means they can fit into any space that is the size of their head.

5)Have you ever noticed a cat’s tail quivering when it is near you? This is an expression of love.

6)When cats are happy they knead with their paws.

7)A cat will fall in a special order. First it’s head will rotate, the spine will twist and the back legs will align. The cat will then arch its back to reduce the impact of the landing. This is why they can fall from great heights and not get hurt.

8)Cats can sense the tone in your voice. They will know when you are speaking lovingly to them or if you are yelling at them. But, they do not understand punishment like humans do – that is why you will find your cat does not care if they get into trouble. (and I just thought they were ignorant!)----haha so be careful while having privet convo with cats :D

9)Cats are North America’s most popular pets: there are 73 million cats    compared to 63 million dogs. Over 30% of households in North America own a cat.

10)Approximately 40,000 people are bitten by cats in the U.S. annually.

11)Cats hate the water because their fur does not insulate well when it’s    wet. The Turkish Van, however, is one cat that likes swimming. Bred in central  Asia, its coat has a unique texture that makes it water resistant.

12)The ability of a cat to find its way home is called “psi-traveling.” Experts    think cats either use the angle of the sunlight to find their way or that cats have magnetized cells in their brains that act as compasses.

13)A female cat is called a queen or a molly.

14)The costliest cat ever is named Little Nicky, who cost his owner $50,000.    He is a clone of an older cat.

  • Good to know Dimas ......congrats :);thanks everyone for your comments .

  • Cats are common in my place.  There is a superstitious belief that one is drawing bad omen to himself if he bathes a cat.  So, cats in our country never take a bath.

A person who has a respiratory problem should never take a cat for a pet.  Maybe it has something to do with the cat's fur.

I personally don't like cats but I like Garfield a lot, hehehe!
