Joe Cocker ......with a little help from my friends.....
........an idea that come across me yesterday looking for a suitable translation of a proverb from my motherlanguage into the english.
Me as a single translator managed a translation that rhymed indeed but sounded odd....... and probably looked a bit incomprehensible. Thus I asked for help and typed it in. My idea have been:
before picking a flower, watch out
whether or not a better sprout.
Lol...... after a bunch of explanations and negotiations the below solution sprouted:
Before picking a flower, look around
that no better specimen can be found.
After all I have to say, that the found poem is more precise and clear, albeit it is a metaphorical proverb and it still works in certain contexts only. To sum up my exeperience from yesterday I´d state in a team people are unbeatable :-D
Of course, it might read a bit hypocritical that it´s been Paula as admin and native english user who I asked. I would not had rejected anyone else trying to help out. And since I consider Paula as friend as well as the most others here I dare say in accordance to Mister Joe:

Hey catwoman, sorry but you read a bit upset, maybe I err but the song wasn´t about drugs. Joe Cocker was a pure aclcohol consumer from what I know. But sure Woodstock has been a great event and surely encouraging to their best performance.

Though I must say Roses solution even if a bit harder to rhym reads much more ladylike. And bending the rules and having a little whistle in the ears one might find it also a perfect rhyme. Thanks for sharing, Rose. I should have known that a lady like you found such an elegant solution.
Hey Roman, Joe Cocker has been a Rock singer since the old flower power times. He even sung on the famous Woodstock festival. and later he has ben a successful representative of Rock music. Always worth to listen to his enormously powerful voice and the songs he sang. He has been famous for his spasmodic moves. This made him look a bit ridiculous on the stage. But when you closed your eyes and listened to him...............wow it was like a blast off the brains. Thank you for reading. :-)

As you all know well and good that there is this little devil inside me that just irks to spoil the fun, this time it also got the upper hand on me and I decided to add my malicious tuppence.
Most proverbs and sayings are mostly composed of common words used in the quotidian speech of the local natives, and natives, due to their unwillingness to use sophisticated expressions, tend to avoid high brow terminology, so, coming to the kernel of my thought, I would have written the following:
Before picking a flower, look around,
That no prettier one is to be found.
My point is, the phrase "better specimen" has this disadvantage over my "no prettier one" is that the latter has a better pronunciation passage and is less "technical", "better specimen" has a jagged connection between the two words, whereas "prettier one" has a smoother connection suiting better to the rhythm meter of the whole saying.
I took the liberty of flossing my badonkadonk in this matter as I have eaten most of my teeth translating not only technical texts but also "artistic creations" of various kinds and forms.
Please, Panie Cavemate, let not my butting in restrain you from writing blogs and other opuses here, for I rest perfectly sure that they will be an outstanding contribution to all of us.
