Friends this is my first post on EnglishClub hope you'd like it
Tomorrow is my birthday and also my first exam of final term. We friends have this tradition of throwing each other surprise birthday parties since last year. Today in lunch break I tried to read their faces whether they have something up their sleeves or not,but couldn’t figure out anything as they were all busy talking only about tomorrow’s paper. Either they are quite good at keeping things secret or I am going to lose this party to final exams.

Ooh how simple :O i am so dumb
anyway thank you so much Expector Smith Sir for your help :)
How about 'My friends and I have been throwing each other...'?
Expector Smith Sir yes I got that :)
and I myself was a bit confused while using the word tradition but couldn't find any other appropriate word then. can i use "we are in a habit of" or "we have this norm since last year" instead of tradition?
Mishaikh thank you :) :)
Dear JET thanks you for your kind words:)
Nice attempt sidra, and very well guided by Expector.
Keep it up.
And, I assume you mean 'My friends and I' by 'We friends'. If that's the case, you could even use 'We' instead of 'We friends'.
Hi Sidra,
I'm glad you asked! You used 'since last year', so you should have used 'have had this tradition' instead of 'have'. You could delete 'since last year', and then you could use 'have' instead of 'have had'- the sentence will sound better.
By the way, you use 'tradition' when the thing you're referring to has existed for a lot of years - 'since last year' doesn't mean 'many years'!
Hope you get it!
Adaline Bala thank you for dropping by :)
dear Expector Sir thank you for reading my story. could you please explain usage of "have had" to me.
