It was my mother who said I should walk to my class that day when I started to take my scooter out. She thought I rode my scooter fast and was worried I might get into an accident.
It was Anju who said we should take the shortcut when we were coming back from our class. It was almost 8.30 p.m. We were walking down a deserted narrow lane. No one seemed to be around.
Suddenly Divya whispered to us, "I think someone is following us."
"What?!?" I panicked.
"Shhh...don't shout. Just walk fast," Divya said.
Just then we heard someone shouting at us to stop. We looked back and saw a man come running towards us.
It was Anju who shouted, "Quick, run!" and made us all run helter-skelter.
It was I who tripped over a stone and fell down while my friends ran like Olympic gold medalist Carl Lewis and disappeared from my sight.
It was he who came closer to me and said, "Hey, why were you running as if you had seen a ghost?" and helped me to my feet.
"I saw your purse falling down from your pocket when you took the phone out, and wanted to give it to you," he smiled shyly and gave my purse back to me.
All I did was stand there speechless without knowing whether I should cry or laugh!
